Good day to you all on this beautiful day, is so nice to be here in this community to share with you all this beautiful iro and buba traditional outfit made with white fabric for my grandma. I hope you are all doing great in your respective places and I pray that this week bring us positivity in all ramifications.

Iro and buba is a traditional outfit worn by women, it is mostly worn by the westerners in Nigeria but as it is now, it is generally worn by almost all the ethnic groups in the country. For my gandma, amost all are outfit is made of this particular style because that is what she was used to in the olden days I have tried sewing different designs for outfit for her but she mostly preferred this particular iro and buba especially when the fabric is expensive. One of her son will be celebrating his birthday and he bought grandma this particular fabric to wear for the event, this is what gandma asked me to sew for her.

To make this outfit, the first thing to do is to cut out the iro which is the wrapper, from the 5yards of lace fabric I measured 2yards and 8" it was cut out and folded in o both sides by 1"

I cut out a white satin of 12" to make a belt at both end to make it easy to tie at the back

The wrapper was sewn and set aside then I proceeded to cut the buba which is the blouse, to cut the buba, I folded the in two with the hip circumference then in two again with the close end at the top since I will not be joining the shoulder

It was cut out together and a round neckline was cut out as it will not have specific place for the front or back

The sleeves were cut out a well from the remaining fabric and it was sewn to the arm to complete the full length measurements of the sleeves

For the lace to be longer, I added about 5" which was specifically demanded by grandma just for the blouse to be longer. Finally, the necline was pipe with a white bias tape and it as sewn together with the side seam allowance.

This is the final and beautiful outcome of Grandma iro and buba traditional outfit for her son's birthday, I hope you like the beautiful outcome.
