How I made a simple gown outfit for my friend for a child dedication service.

Hello everyone

Happy new month and a great day to you all on this beautiful day, I hope you are doing great and having a good start of the month. I will be sharing with you the making of this simple and beautiful gown outfit I made for my friend for a child dedication service in church.

Every first Sunday of the month is Thanksgiving and dedication service in church, when every member of the church celebrate and appreciate God for what He has done for the previous month and for the new month as well, those that also gave birth in the previous month come to church to dedicate their children, this new month is the child dedication of our friend who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, we as friends decided to wear this beautiful fabric to church on Sunday for the Thanksgiving and dedication service.

I decided to sew this simple and stylish gown for one of our friend to reduce the cost of spending much on the outfit, join me as we ride into the cutting and sewing process.

With me, I have 4yards of African prints fabric, it was folded in two with the hip circumference measurements divide by 4 plus 2" for ease and seam allowance with Additional 5" for fullness of the A-line, the waist to full length measurements was marked with the circumference measurements it was conneted and out

The front was placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back panel with 1.5" zipper allowance

The lower part of the gown was placed on lining to cut out same shape and the lining was used to turn it inside out for neat finishing

For the upper bodice which is the half length, I drafted out a shoulder dart on a paper and it was transferred to the main fabric and cut out with seam allowance

A basic block bodice was drafted for the back with 1.5" zipper allowance

I cut out lining for the upper bodice and it was sewn together

The upper bodice was sewn to the lower part of the gown to make a complete outfit and I sew a long 1" bias tape on the dart leg from the shoulder down to the full length measurements.

From the remaining fabric, I cut out a basic short sleeve with the armhole circumference measurements and the sleeves length measurements, it was folded and sewn together with the round sleeves measurements

Finally, the sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference and a matching color zipper was sewn to the zipper allowance at the back and this is the final outcome.

I fixed a fashionable button at the waist line and knee line just to make it stylish, I hope you like the beautiful outcome.

Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post, do have a great time and a prosperous month.
