Cutting and sewing process of a trouser with elastic waist band for my friend's little son

Hello everyone

Greetings to you all in this great community hivediyHive account@hivediy I hope you are all doing great, it's so nice to be here today to share with you the cutting and sewing process of a trouser with elastic waist band I recently made for my friend's little son using a beautiful colorful fabric.

My friend usually love to make use of same fabric to sew outfit for herself and her children, sometimes, instead of leaving the left over pieces to waste, I most times combined it with another matching fabric just to create something simple for her and her child. In the case of this particular fabric is different as my friend bought enough to make lovely outfits for her and the children.

To make a complete outfit for the little boy, I needed to start with the trouser which is easy and simple to achieve. Join me as I take you through the cutting and sewing process below.

I started with the cutting of the front panel of the trouser by folding the fabric in two, I marked the waist circumference measurements plus 2" and the full length as well, then i marked the crouch and ankle measurements after which it was connected and cut out. I added 2" to the waist for the elastic band and 2" at the full length for the hemming allowance

The front panel was placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back panel, for the back, I added 1.5" to the side from the waistline down to the hem line at the full length measurements and it was cut out

I picked one of the front panel and one of the back panel, placed it together and it was sewn on the wrong side, the same process was repeated on the other side as well and I have the two legs sewn separately with the hem folded in and sewn

The two were placed together on the crouch and it was sewn together on a double stitch for it to be firm while the waistline was folded in for the elastic casing

I measured and cut out an elastic band of 1 x 16" and it was inserted in the loop and was secured together

As simple as that, this is the final outcome of the trouser with elastic waist band I made for my friend's little son. I will be making a shirt to the trouser in my next post for a complete outfit.
