IF CHANGE IS CONSTANT,, THEN IT'S QUITE ATTAINABLE POLITICALLY!.

So earlier this morning I've been so disturbed by this single question, and I thought it wise to take it global for a collective reasoning.

The question is will Akwa Ibom state of Nigeria in African continent Rise to the Challenge?

History has a way of reminding us that real political change rarely begins with politicians - it begins with the people.

Not too long ago, many believed it was impossible for Alex Otti to become Governor of Abia State. The political establishment seemed too powerful, the odds too overwhelming.

Yet, the people made a different decision. They refused to believe that their votes were powerless. They chose hope over fear, conviction over compromise, and their collective will changed the political story of their state.

Today, one can see many similarities between Michael Bush and Alex Otti. Both built successful careers before venturing into politics. Both are members of the Labour Party. Both earned goodwill long before seeking public office. Both have consistently spoken about human development and the need to put people first.

Whether one agrees with every comparison or not, one question remains:

Can Akwa Ibom write its own history?

The greatest strength in a democracy has never been money, political influence, or powerful godfathers. It has always been the united voice of ordinary people who believe their future is worth fighting for.

One of the most enduring lessons from Abia is that when leaders emerge through the genuine support of the people, they have a stronger incentive to remain accountable to those same people.

Many can point to the developmental strides under Alex Otti’s administration as an example of what can happen when a government feels responsible first to the electorate rather than to a handful of political elites.

The challenge before Akwa Ibom is not simply about electing one individual. It is about deciding what kind of politics we want to practice. Will our votes continue to be traded for temporary rewards, or will they become investments in the future of our children?

Every major political transformation once looked impossible - until ordinary people decided it wasn’t.

If Abia could challenge the status quo, why not Akwa Ibom?

The task is difficult. No one should pretend otherwise. But difficult has never meant impossible. The future belongs to people who first believe that change is possible and then act with courage, unity, and determination.

The question is no longer whether change can happen.

The question is whether Akwa Ibom is ready to make it happen.

You're reading from your handsome friend John Petra, not really a political analyst but a concern citizen who desires positive changes.
