A BORROW MANTLE HAS NO WARRANTY

Hello everyone, I'm writing to share with you all about one of the quietest dangers in prophetic formation is not deception.

It is imitation.

Many seers spend years trying to become the prophet who inspired them. They study Elijah and try to become Elijah. They study Daniel and try to become Daniel.

They study John and try to become John. They study the prophets around them and slowly begin borrowing their language, their mannerisms, their emphases and even their personalities.

It feels spiritual. It feels honorable. It even feels humble.

But often it delays the very thing God is trying to accomplish.

The Lord has never been interested in producing copies. He forms originals.

Look carefully at Scripture. Moses was not Elijah. Elijah was not Samuel. Samuel was not Ezekiel. Ezekiel was not Daniel. Daniel was not John.

They all heard God. They all served God. They all carried revelation. Yet no two of them were formed the same way. Their callings differed. Their personalities differed. Their assignments differed.

Even the way revelation came to them differed. One heard a voice. Another saw visions. Another interpreted dreams. Another carried burdens. Another received encounters.

The same God. Different vessels.

Yet many prophetic people spend years frustrated because they unconsciously measure themselves against a pattern God never intended for them. They assume that if they do not sound like that prophet, see like that prophet or minister like that prophet then something must be wrong.

Meanwhile the Lord is quietly trying to free them from comparison.

One of the greatest moments in a seer's formation occurs when he stops asking why am I not like them and begins asking what is God trying to build in me.

That question changes everything.

Because the goal of prophetic formation is not to wear another man's mantle. The goal is to faithfully steward your own.

The tragedy is not that some people never receive a mantle. The tragedy is that some spend so much time reaching for someone else's that they never fully recognize the one God placed upon their own shoulders.

The mature seer eventually discovers that God does not need another Elijah. Another Daniel. Another John. Those already existed.

What He desires is a fully formed version of the person He called before the foundations of the world.

And that journey begins the moment imitation ends.
