Chicken Rolls
Hi, friends, I hope you're all doing well.
It's been a long time since I've had pita bread, and today I wanted to make something special for lunch to celebrate Father's Day, so I bought some pita bread and a few vegetables to make chicken wraps. It's a pretty simple recipe, but super delicious. You can stuff them with meat, eggs, vegetables, chicken, and even bacon—it really depends on your taste. In my case, I only had chicken, so I used 3 chicken breasts, diced into small cubes, to stuff 4 rolls. I also tried a new way to roll them that I saw online, since I usually just used to fold them in half, haha.
I started by soaking the vegetables in water with vinegar; in this case, I used lettuce, two tomatoes, and half a red onion. The rest of the filling consisted of cheese, ham, mustard, tomato sauce, garlic mayonnaise, and, of course, chicken, which I diced and began sautéing in a skillet. Then I seasoned it with salt, black pepper, adobo seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic mayonnaise. I let it cook for a while.
While the chicken was finishing cooking, I started cutting the vegetables so they’d be ready. I was going to dice them, but for some reason I ended up slicing them instead—I didn’t realize it until it was too late. It doesn’t really bother me that much, though; I just thought it would look a little nicer if I’d diced them, but there was nothing I could do about it now, haha. I took my pita bread and placed it on the cutting board to start filling it.
I saw a TikTok video where people make a cut in the pita bread so they can roll it up into a shape I can't quite explain? Hahaha, I just went ahead and did it—I stuffed it with everything I could and started rolling it until I got this weird shape, which I actually liked because everything stayed really secure inside. I put the Arabic bread in the pan to warm it up a bit without over-toasting it… Finally, I took it out and served it.
I promise you it turned out delicious. I'd love to try one filled with avocado and chicken—and maybe without so much sauce, so it's a little more natural. What I love most is that it's very versatile and easy to make.
