A Second Chance for a Hack: IT WORKED!

Hace unos meses probe pintar el forro de mi celular viejo con papel crepe, no funciono… Esta vez quise intentarlo con el foro de mi celular nuevo, pensé que quizás esta vez funcionaria porque compre suficiente papel crepe y aunque no eran los tonos exactos que buscaba decidí probar. Para mi sorpresa esta vez si funciono, supongo que la última vez salió mal porque no tenia suficiente papel crepe o ya estaba muy viejo aquel papel, me gusta como se ve de este nuevo color aunque no quedo totalmente uniforme pero aun asi se ve hermoso ya que sinceramente no me agradaba mucho el blanco que tenia.

A few months ago, I tried painting the back of my old cell phone with crepe paper, but it didn’t work… This time, I wanted to try it on the back of my new cell phone. I thought maybe it would work this time because I bought enough crepe paper, and even though the shades weren’t exactly what I was looking for, I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, it actually worked this time. I guess it didn’t work last time because I didn’t have enough crepe paper or because that paper was already too old. I like how it looks in this new color—even though it’s not completely even, it still looks beautiful, since, honestly, I didn’t really like the white one I had before.

Compre dos colores (por si uno no funcionaba usaba el otro) empecé con el color lila, en realidad busque un tono morado pero no tenían en la tienda, decidí agarrar el lila pensando que podría ser buena opción a pesar de no ser un tono muy intenso como el que en realidad quería, el azul oscuro tambien era una buena opción pero sería mi opción número 2 en caso del que el lila fallase.

I bought two colors (so if one didn't work, I could use the other). I started with the lilac color; I was actually looking for a shade of purple, but they didn't have it at the store, so I decided to go with the lilac, thinking it might be a good option even though it wasn't as intense a shade as the one I really wanted. The dark blue was also a good option, but it would be my second choice in case the lilac didn't work out.

Pique el papel en pequeños trozos y lo coloque en un envase el cual luego llene con agua hirviendo, el color comenzó a desprenderse rápidamente, tomo un tono morado muy bonito, sumergí mi forro y lo deje que tomara el color por unos 40 minutos.

I tore the paper into small pieces and placed them in a container, which I then filled with boiling water; the color began to bleed out quickly, taking on a very pretty shade of purple. I submerged my lining and let it soak up the color for about 40 minutes.

En todo ese tiempo no revise el progreso, quería que fuese sorpresa aunque no tenia mucha fe después de la ultima vez que me lleve tremenda decepción, para mi sorpresa salió completamente pintado, lo único es que por alguna razón el color no quedo uniforme, pero realmente se ve muy bonito es mas mi estilo porque tiene un color que me gusta muchísimo, supongo que si me aburro podre ponerlo de azul, no tengo idea pero por ahora estoy bastante satisfecha con el resultado.

During that whole time, I didn't check on the progress—I wanted it to be a surprise, even though I wasn't very hopeful after the last time I was so disappointed. To my surprise, it came out completely painted, the only thing is that for some reason the color isn’t uniform, but it really looks very nice—it’s more my style because it’s a color I love a lot. I guess if I get bored, I could paint it blue; I have no idea, but for now I’m pretty satisfied with the result.

Quede con las manos y dedos super manchados de azul porque probe el papel crepe azul en el forro de mi celular viejo y tambien funciono, aunque se ve bastante mal porque ese forro esta super viejo y desgastado.

My hands and fingers got really stained blue because I tried the blue crepe paper on the case of my old cell phone, and it worked too, although it looks pretty bad because that case is really old and worn out.
