Today I'm showing you the most iconic beer from Barcelona's Garage Beer Co. It's SOUP. A timeless beer in the craft beer world, known and appreciated by all. It was one of the first NEIPAs (New England India Pale Ales) I tried before the boom in that style emerged. And I truly fell in love with it, and it still does today.
6% ABV and 50 IBUs of bitterness make for a beer that's perfect for sipping on its own. Very cloudy and thick, with very pronounced flavors and aromas of tropical fruits such as mango, passion fruit, and also stone fruits like peach. Its creaminess stands out, and the medium bitterness that's not usually seen in this style is appreciated.
Here's to many more years of SOUP.
Such is the fame and affection for this beer that the brand, in addition to making it the centerpiece of its merchandising, celebrates SOUP Day and releases new versions of this beer every year, swapping out the original Citra and Mosaic hops. This year, the new versions include the Amarillo and Rakau SOUPs. I'll show you these soon, and they join the DIPA, TIPA, Riwaka, El Dorado, Idaho 7, Enigma, Strata, and Nelson SOUPs. Although I'm sticking with the original.
