Finding a chance to surprise my husband on his birthday after the initial plan failed.
Having an LDR partner means celebrating special occasions separately. Be content in watching sent photos and videos. That is why when my husband was here during his birthday I planned on giving him a simple surprise. He also planned to organize a dinner with his family so I opted to buy a cake and decorations. Not a random but one of his favorites, One piece anime. Choosing a design for a cake was hard for me who isn't a fan because it looks messy. I can't appreciate it so I opted for a simple minimalist one.
On the day of his birthday, the plan was to attend a holy mass since it's Sunday. Then, his sister will go here in our house for a quick decor. However, when I woke up in the morning I found him curling outside on the couch. (He had a drinking session with his friends and my rule was, he can't sleep with us when drunk!)
Put Caleb back to sleep, I can't go to church. Turns out he has an upset stomach probably from mixing liquors and food from the other night.
PLANNED FAILED!, I chatted with my sister in-law.
WHAT NOW?
Almost noon time and no concrete plan, might turn out no surprise at all.
However, he decided to go to the market together with his brother to buy ingredients for laters dinner.
The quick set up and our son Caleb was also messing around.
We were not even done when I heard the ebike approaching indicating his back! So I grabbed the cake and prepared to surprise him!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Greeted him with high energy but he just looked at me, hurriedly put down what he bought and ran to the comfort room!
EPIC FAILED AGAIN!
Afterwards, I gave him medicine and he rested. It was his brother who cooked the food. Caleb was taken care of by his Tita so I could prepare other things.
THE CELEBRATION!
Thankfully he felt better at night so we managed to have photos.
A one piece cake, his cute son and pretty wife, what could he wish for?
For the food we had buttered shrimp with mussels, roasted and abodong chicken. Spaghetti , cake and pizza for the kids.
This is the one piece cake design I ordered with cupcakes from someone in our community. His sister also bought a bento cake for him and his brother who had a birthday the other day.
There were no other visitors aside from his siblings and their children. It was an intimate one just like I preferred.
It was only us, busy chatting while enjoying food until almost midnight. It was a tiring day for me but at the end of the day before we went to sleep my husband thanked me. Told me how happy he was!
That is what matters, him appreciating my effort. Thus when he knew the price of his cake was like; that expensive? Why not buy one at goldilocks? The stingy part of him was activated.
