The mind said "I'm on it"

It was a mean-buzzy work Monday. The office was filled with unending orders to be done.

Mr Pius Alumina was at his workstation booth since he signed in till 12pm, lunch break. Everyone left to get a bite and drink. He couldn't because his department was short staffed that day.

And since he was the fastest at typing orders, the bulk of the job was left for him. He stood up but bent over his laptop till typing.

His body needed a break. Even his eyes. So he squinted and stretched before returning to work.

When it got to 4pm, closing time. He couldn't finish all the requests. He said to himself, "I'm going to take it home and by tomorrow it will be ready before it is needed."

His mind agreed that "I'm on it"...
He never asked his body "are you really on it?".

He got home, freshened up, grabbed a meal. Decided to lie on the couch for "just one hour". Alarm set for 1am.

The alarm rang at 1am. He was far gone in sleep.

His alarm was "on it" so it buzzed for some minutes more before stopping.

The morning light shone into his room. His eyes caught it and he jerked up. He reached for his laptop that had fallen on the floor praying it wasn't broken.

He was excited that it was not broken because it was company property.

Then a call came from the office, he replied: "It will soon be ready, I'm on it...."

But was his body really on it?
