Unhappy Circumstances : The Lesson the Scheme did not Teach
This is just one out of the many unhappy circumstances where nausea begets a ripped skirt.
That cold, bright day, I was teaching in a class.
Equally I was in my first trimester but not showing yet. I remember the topic "child development and care".
Yes, that was the topic in the scheme of work for that week. I taught with wit and strength answering every questions that came through.
In the course of the class, I started feeling nauseous. I knew if I did not step outside to the restroom. I would embarrass myself from the sharp, urgency in my stomach.
So I asked the class representative to engage the students with some questions.
I hurried to the restroom and I did not even get inside when I threw up and unknown to me that during that nauseous moment.
The zipper at the back skirt had ripped open.
I continued my day that way, Nobody drew my attention to it until I got to the gate exit. I heard a man say to me "ma'am your zipper is ruined"
I quickly grabbed my skirt and rushed to go home.
I was so heartbroken and ashamed when I learnt about it.
I called my colleagues ranting about how the knew my skirt was ruined but did not tell me.
I was shocked when they said if you did not tell us, nobody noticed or knew about it.
They all laughed but i was the victim, the unhappy one.
I was worried about the student reaction but none of them ever mentioned the incidence too, not to my face or even as a gossip.
Since then, I always double checked my skirt zipper, dresses and runs a double seams through them.
Sometimes, not every lesson comes from the scheme of work and my body needed care and rest too.
In unhappy circumstances, some people may never notice the pain, sadness or humiliation, only you know how much it hinges on your soul.
