추석 연휴는 잘 보내셨나요?
추석 연휴를 맞이하며 마지막 글을 적었었는데,
벌써 연휴가 다 끝나가네요.

9월도 벌써 중순을 지나고 있는데,
이제 조금 있으면 아침 저녁으로 날씨가 쌀쌀해지겠네요.
오늘은 선선하게 부는 가을 바람을 맞으며 듣기 좋은
차분한 템포의 인디팝을 추천해드리겠습니다.

인트로 부분의 minor code 베이스 라인에 귀를 사로잡히고,
곧이어 등장하는 호소력 있는 Sidney Sartini의 보컬은
처음 들었을때 '와..' 하는 소리없는 탄성을 자아내게 했습니다.
곡 중간중간에 나오는 세 보컬의 아카펠라도
곡의 완성도를 한층 더하는 느낌입니다.

노래를 들으면서 계속 들었던 생각은
'이 정도의 곡이면 확실히 뜨겠다' 였는데,
유튜브의 공식 영상 조회수는 포스팅 작성 기준 388,693회.. Orz.

의외로 찾아보기 쉽지 않은 장르와 스타일의 팝이고,
가을에 듣기 좋은 감성적인 알트/인디팝입니다.

Bahari is an American alt pop and electronic musical duo, previously a trio, composed of Ruby Carr and Natalia Panzarella. Sidney Sartini left the band in 2018.

Formation, signing with Interscope and Dancing on the Sun (2014–2017)
The group is formed by vocalist and keyboardist Ruby Carr, who is from South Africa and was raised in Kenya; vocalist and bassist Natalia Panzarella, from Nashville, Tennessee and vocalist and guitarist Sidney Sartini from Manhattan Beach, California. They met in production team Rock Mafia's studio while working in each member's individual projects. They encouraged them to make music together and formed the group, then called Bahari. They signed with Interscope Records and the first song they wrote, "Wild Ones", was released as their debut single on December 30, 2014. It gained popularity online, reaching more than 40 million streams on Spotify and being featured in TV series Teen Wolf and The Royals. The music video was released on April 5, 2016, directed by Darnell Williams.They also appeared in the song "Addicted to a Memory", featured on Zedd's second studio album True Colors.

Their debut extended play, Dancing on the Sun was released on May 13, 2016, with the title track being the first single.Its music video, filmed in the Sequoia National Forest and directed by Marcus Haney was released as an Apple Music exclusive on May 5, 2018. It impacted contemporary hit radio on May 10, 2018, and appeared on TV shows Supergirl and So You Think You Can Dance. They also released music videos for the songs "Altar of the Sun"and "Reasons", also directed by Haney.

During summer 2016, they toured as a supporting act for Birdy as well as for Selena Gomez's Revival Tour. In January 13, 2017, a collaboration with Grey called "I Miss You" was released, with its music video directed by Tobias Nathan being released on April 13, 2017. In January 20, 2017, a cover of The Youngbloods, "Get Together" was put out as a single. Its music video, directed by Darnell Williams and Sam Sturges, was released on January 24, 2017, and the track was featured on the TV series Riverdale.

밴드의 흥행여부가 단순히 곡의 완성도나,
멤버들의 외모(?) 에만 비례하지 않는다는 걸
본의 아니게 입증하고 있는 밴드 Bahari.

싱글들이나 앨범을 들어보면 트랜디한 곡들이 많고
대체적으로 완성도도 높은데,
그에 비해 대중의 주목을 너무 못받고 있는 것 같아서 아쉬운 마음입니다.
(게다가 Sidney Sartini가 2018년에 밴드 탈퇴를 한 부분이 매우 아쉽네요..)

프로모션에 조금 더 신경을 쓰면서,
꾸준하게 신곡 발매 및 투어 활동을 한다면,
언젠가는 지금보다 많은 인지도를 쌓아서
유명한 밴드가 될 수 있지 않을까 하는 생각이 듭니다.
(비슷한 느낌의 밴드로는 the Neighbourhood, Twenty One Pilots가 있습니다 ^^)
