Good morning beloved hive community. We are starting up much earlier today and right before stepping out to the farm I often update my blog about ongoing activities in the farm.

So yesterday we started a weeding process in the a portion of the lettuce farm which has not been attended go earlier. This portion of the farm didn't do well at all and from the pictures you can notice how scanty the lettuces are on the ridges and how majority of the seedlings planted here have been lost.

The lettuces you see growing here are similar lettuces that have been planted at about the same time with the one I will be sharing with us next.

Comparing several pictures from different location in the farm you can notice the difference in growth and how that we lost a good portion of the seedlings completely in some portion of the farm.

You can see here that there is almost no lettuce growing here. The seedlings didn't survive.

Some of the major things to lookout for while growing lettuce are the following.

A good soil that is fertile and rich. This one here is a clay-loamy that is very rich in humous and organic fertilizer.

Another important factor is adequate moisture content. The moisture content in the farm should be just adequate. Not too much and not too less

If there were not enough moisture the soil dries up and seedlings planted in dry locations do not often survive like the ones you will see below. The soil was well moisturized when the seedlings were planted but since there was no rain upon it for a while the seedlings in this location dried up.

Then again excessive moisture content can also get seedlings to become rotten upon planting them. Hence for another portion of the farm we noticed that the place was often water logged and that affecting the seedlings planted around there too.

For this portion of the farm, majority of the seedlings didn't survive. Which left us a scanty field.

The weeding of the farm has to be carried out to keep the field clean as we would be planting rice in this places very soon.

It is equally important to grow lettuce innna free open space like this and not in combination with other crops like we often engage in mixed cropping for most of our crops. Max time for the growth of these is 6weeks or with additional two more weeks as desired, in which these will be harvested to free up the space for growing other crops.
