Terraceous Grunt: Earth's Low Mana Tank
Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!
The Terraceous Grunt is a common Earth splinter unit from the Chaos Legion reward card set in Splinterlands. It is primarily used as a frontline tank because of its high health pool, decent melee damage and Dodge abilities. The Terraceous Grunt is great when you need a beefy tank in low to mid mana battles. Its large health pool allows it to absorb significant damage.
Lore
Not much lore for this unit. From the Splinterlands site:
Terraceous grunts are magical creations born of stone and earth. They often serve magic users, their allies, or those with the coin to afford their service. Grunts are highly resistant to attacks. They are also skilled in the martial arts, using their massive, stone fists as weapons.
Stats and Abilities
The Terraceous Grunt is a six mana, common card. At maxed levels, it deals four melee damage, has a huge health of twelve and speed of three. It has the Dodge ability from level one. At level six, it gets the Return Fire ability.
My Terraceous Grunt is at level five. It deals decent damage, has good speed and most importantly, high health that enables it to take damage. I recently used it in my battle which I will show below.
Featured Battle
The battle was capped at thirty one mana. It was fortunate that the Outsider ruleset was in effect thus enabling me to use the Terraceous Grunt.
I had my usual elf damage dealers with Thanalorian Blade. Her Opportunity ability is good to hunt down low health enemies. Zero mana Kyraseth comboes with her as she also has the Opportunity ability. Next is Bren Palesworn. He deals dual damage of two range and one melee attack. He has the Sneak ability that enables him to attack enemy rear units. To combo with him is Aranduriel who also has the Sneak ability while dealing three range damage. The team is reinforced by support card Ujurak Elder whose Strengthen ability adds health to all allies.
The enemy team has a higher level archon. His team also had good synergy with a mix of beefy tanks, Opportunity damage dealers and a healer to sustain the team. The enemy had a hard time defeating my tank while my damage dealers were decimating his back line units. Also, the Execute ability is clutch in this battle as it triggered multiple times enabling my units to defeat enemies quickly before they can do damage to my team.
