Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

It's early in the new season and I quickly went to work and unlocked Gold II League in Modern. It's great that I moved to this league early as it increased my SPS rewards earned per win. I was also rewarded with advancement chests that contained cards, among others. Advancing in leagues as you win more battles is part of the fun I find in playing Splinterlands.

Advancement Reward Chests

There are several rewards you can get from chests including legendary cards. The were a lot of rare cards I received today. There were also potions, merits and energy. I like the cards best especially if I can get legendary cards. It's possible to upgrade the cards you have from getting these reward cards.

This is another motivating factor for me to keep playing. The possibility of upgrading my cards and making my deck stronger and competitive. My goal is to have a complete set of reward cards with level five commons, level four rares, level three epics and level two legendaries. It will take a lot of seasons but it will keep me motivated to play.

Featured Battle - Beating Nidhoggr

After my win against Dragonlord Mancer in this post, I been using my Water magic speed team in battles. This time, my team beat the great dragon Nidhoggr. This team would give me trouble any other day but my strategy of striking first and hard paid dividends. My advantage in speed and damage defeated his units before he can kill mine. My team was composed of the following.

Blue Wyrm Travesty

Blue Wyrm Travesty deals seven damage and has excellent defense. He also slows down the enemy with his ability making him an important cog in my strategy.

Ulundin Overseer

Ulundin Overseer is the second tank that absorbed the blast damage from Nidhoggr's ability. He has no attack by himself but he is given three magic attack courtesy of Shiraza and the archon's buff.

Shiraza

Shiraza is my combo unit that I use with Ulundin Overseer. She gives him two magic attack while also dealing two magic of her own.

Torrent Sniper

Torrent Sniper deals three magic damage and a good unit to combo with Shock Trooper because of his Painforge ability. His attack will increase as the fight goes on.

Mystic Scaleweaver

Mystic Scaleweaver deals four magic damage while also slowing down the enemy. With Blue Wyrm Travesty, that's already two speed stats deducted from the enemy.

Shock Trooper

Shock Trooper deals five magic damage while increasing the team's speed. With the debuff to the enemy and my own speed buff, it's guaranteed my team will attack first. The only disadvantage of Shock Trooper is his Electrified debilitation but I took advantage of it by including Torrent Sniper in the team.

The enemy is strong with a level two Nidhoggr. His team had three units with Blast ability. Luckily, I had a beefy tank in second position that absorbed the damage. Having fast and high damage units also guaranteed that I defeated his units before they can be healed by his Arachne Weaver. It was a pleasure seeing my strategy work against a legendary archon.
