The Safe Choice

I stared at the email for a long time, my fingers hovering over the keyboard.

It was the proposal I had been working on for weeks. The one that could finally get me noticed at work.

But then I hesitated.
Everyone in the office had been saying one thing: “Just go with the safe choice.

Play it like everyone else.

And part of me wanted to. Just hit send, follow the crowd, and hope for the best. It would be easy. Safe. Comfortable.

But another part knew this wasn’t right. I had my own approach, something I believed would stand out.
I kept rereading the draft, thinking about how bold it was. Too bold? Maybe too risky.

The clock ticked. Emails were going out. Decisions were being made without me.

I told myself, just wait a bit longer. Let me see if someone else agrees first.
Then the office phone rang. I ignored it.
Another ping on my screen. Still nothing.

Finally, I gave in. I deleted my draft and sent the safer version everyone expected.

I leaned back, trying to convince myself it was okay.

But as the minutes passed, I saw the responses rolling in. Quick approvals… but with the same lukewarm comments I had predicted. Nothing extraordinary. Nothing memorable.

I looked at the deleted draft still open on my screen.
And for the first time that day, I wondered…
What if I had sent it?

Welcome, friend. Life doesn't hand us a manual; it hands us stories. I take those everyday moments and shape them into short stories that linger long after the reading ends.I gather those moments—the ordinary encounters,My work is to uncover that hidden wisdom and offer it in narratives that feel like stillness in a rushing world, and a little more understanding of this thing called being human. Pull up a chair. The lesson is waiting.
