I have heard and read so many articles and publications on the Epstein case and file, as sometimes referred to. Initially, I thought it was something that had to do with medication or a medical supply gone wrong until I decided to start reading up on the subject matter.

The Epstein case is about a man named Jeffrey Epstein, alleged to have a network of young girls who were exploited in so many wrong ways, yet it was not noticed until after his demise in 2019. This led to a public outcry for justice, seeking the prosecution of those involved in the exploitation, especially the timber and calibers.

However, justice requires a process of scrutiny that proves someone is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, rather than capitalising on hearsay and mere stories. It has been difficult to bring those accused to book. For me, they remain suspects until proven otherwise.

Conversely, there is widespread belief or rumour that some highly rated individuals are linked with the issue, but because of their social status, the case has been stalled since 2019 to protect their interests and reputation. In some of the right-ups, I learnt how state immunity on some individuals, their wealth, and connections has also slowed progress on the case.

This is to say that the systems required to investigate and bring those suspects to book need to be strengthened to carry out their responsibilities without fear or favour. They also need personnel who can carry out those activities thoroughly without human manipulation. The government should also render strong support for justice to prevail.

Finally, wrong things thrive where fear and intimidation exist. It is a wake-up call for people to learn to live right and avoid bad associations. It also goes to say that speaking up when things are going wrong can help to prevent such situations from occurring rather than resorting to damage control thereafter.
