Thriving In The Office, Respecting Boundaries( SMASh Contest- Round 436)

Hello #shadowhunters friends, I trust your Sunday is going well. Happy new week.

I love balancing work with playing jokes or engaging my colleagues. However, most times, some of them get carried away, and it is in the midst of that twist that I draw my boundaries.

Last Friday, I was on a special task at the factory. I engaged some of the employees on why they do not respect the new policy on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). They gave various reasons that have been previously discussed and rejected. One of them said it is because the supervisor does not lead by example.

At that point, I smiled and told him that I want him to lead the team for a week to experience his leadership style. I didn't finish when all the employees around shouted nooo, leaving me in a surprised mood. I asked them why, and they echoed. He is a kettle calling pot black, meaning he is the same thing as the person he is condemning.

They were excited by the conversation, but I immediately glanced at my watch and noticed the break time was up.

I announced that we would return to our desks while the conversation would continue on a later date. Though they wanted us to continue, I had to respect that boundary. Break time up.
