My participation in the #SMARP Contest - Round #278: Some reflections of my plants [Eng/Esp]
Happy Thursday, Shadow Hunters community! I hope you are all well. Here in Venezuela, it's been a week since the devastating double earthquake that struck us. Rescue efforts are still underway, and although I had to go to a work meeting on Tuesday, I couldn't see the extent of the damage in the city in detail since it happened in the east of Caracas, and I had to go south at the time. It was only yesterday that I had the opportunity to calmly go to eastern Caracas and see the state of several structures; many suffered severe damage. Today I had planned to go to the university to help at the collection center, but first thing this morning they turned the power back on throughout the building to assess the damage, so I was stuck in my apartment unable to go out. Given the circumstances, the only productive thing I could do was water my plants, as I do every morning. It was precisely in those circumstances that I was able to capture the reflection I'm sharing with you today in this SMARP round #278.
So, as every morning, the first thing I do is brew the coffee, and while that's happening, I water my plants. I take great care of them! Especially during these extremely dry days. But just as I started watering them, I noticed the reflection created by the water's surface in the basin. I removed the container I use to water my plants to see the full image of the reflection, and there it was: a beautiful reflection of my sun-loving plants against the contrasting blue sky.
I waited a moment for a cloud to pass, because at this time of the morning it's usually cloudy, and very quickly everything clears up, giving way to the relentless sun for the rest of the day without a cloud in the sky. I drank my coffee, waiting for the moment, and just then a cloud passed over the reflection of my aloe vera plant. The contrast of those three elements—the green of my plants, the blue of the sky, and a white cloud between them—is the kind of composition I like to capture in the reflections of the open sky.
That's how I spent the rest of the day, friends, contemplating my plants while listening to the news on a battery-powered radio because the electricity finally came back on after noon! Afterward, I got to work preparing lunch. This day, like all the days this week, has been melancholic. I still haven't heard from my student who lives in La Guaira, the epicenter of the central coast. I hope to have good news soon. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this reflection I captured while in lockdown. See you in the next SMARP. Best regards!

Saludos!
