Hortensia Maestrucci una joven que vivía en el estado Bolívar, lugar donde nació y creció durante un tiempo, , llegó a la ciudad del Manzanares junto a su novio Fernandito Inserny. Una vez que llega a la ciudad su estadía fue cómoda y buena los primeros meses, se dice que era una joven muy bonita y que llamaba la atención de muchos hombres, debido a su belleza e inocencia, su novio fernandito para ese entonces era el dueño de muchos negocios, apoderado de lujosos carros para aquel entonces, un icono en la ciudad de cumaná, era descendente de una familia militante de la democracia cristiana, un hombre con muchas cosas a su alrededor entre esos mujeres. Tiempo después empezó a sentir celos y a meterle cosas en la cabeza a hortensia diciendo que si salia a la calle se la llevarían los comunistas, cosas que era mentira pero como era una joven inocente le creyó y accedió a su encierro, así paso la joven días, meses e inclusive años, para ser mas exacto 40 años.

Este suceso ocurrió, especialmente cerca de la Plaza Ribero,por la calle Úrica en cumaná. Durante ese tiempo era alimentada a través de las ranuras de la puerta del cuarto donde se encontraba, allí estuvo atada todo el tiempo sin hacer bulla para que los comunistas no la oyeran y se la llevaran. Después de 40 años encerrada fue descubierta, existen dos versiones: Se dice que por la calle se encontraban unos niños jugando y escucharon el llanto de hortensia y otra que los vecinos avisaron que en esa casa se habían metido los ladrones y fue en ese momento cuando la comunidad se asoma y se dan cuenta, inmediatamente llaman a las autoridades competentes para la averiguación del caso, para el momento de su salida hortensia lucia muy mal, estaba sumamente flaca, con las uñas super largas, una cabellera que llegaba casi a su tamaño, muy vieja, tenia mal olor. Fue sacada de la casa a eso de las 5 de la tarde, tapada y en brazos de un comisario de la policía, las personas y todo aquello le causo cierta incomodidad y le hacía daño a la vista de hortensia, ya que estuvo 40 años sin ver la luz del sol.

Después de 2 años desde su liberación hortensia muere. La historia de esta mujer que conmovió a la ciudad de cumaná fue trascendiendo a través de los años y quedara en el recuerdo de los que vivieron esa época , como alguien logra hacerle daño a otra persona de esa magnitud, todos sus años de vida perdidos por estar encerrada.

The people and everything caused her some discomfort and hurt Hortensia's eyesight, since she had been without sunlight for 40 years.

After 2 years from her release, Hortensia dies. The story of this woman who moved the city of Cumaná transcended through the years and will remain in the memory of those who lived that time.
