DIY: A Simple Crochet Headband For Everyday Styling.

I was trying to style a wig recently and one of the styles I imagined needed a headband but I quickly came to the conclusion that I didn't own any after rummaging through my room. So I decided to make one for myself. I know that other people would opt to buy a regular headband but why buy it when you can spend an hour or less making a very pretty one for yourself? This is one of the many perks of being a crochet artist :)

I remember making a headband sometime back in this particular shade of brown and I loved how it looked, so I decided to try it out again. Come with me as I take you through the few and easy steps of making a crochet headband that is very adjustable and can fit any head size

Materials Needed

🤍: Yarn
🤍: 3.5mm crochet hook
🤍: Darning needle
🤍: Measuring tape

Steps Involved.

This headband has straps at the end for tying and adjustment and since I was working in one straight panel, I decided to begin by making the strap for the first end.

To make the strap, I made a chain of twenty six which I felt was a little too short after making the headband but if you don't want the straps to be too long, you can maintain this stitch count.

Next, I inserted two half double crochet stitches into the second stitch from the hook, the twenty fifth stitch. This was the starting point for the headband.

For the next row, I made increases into both stitches from the previous row. This brought the stitch count to four in total.

From here on out, I kept making increases but only at the ends of the row (on both sides). I kept making increases until I had a total of fourteen stitches. At this point I stopped making increases.

For the successive rows, I maintained the stitch count at fourteen. I continued this till I was about three inches from my desired length.

Then, I began making decreases. Just like I did in the beginning with increases, I decreased on both ends only until I was left with just one stitch. Then, I made a chain of twenty five to match the initial chains.

The last thing I did was to sew in the loose ends and this brought me to the end of the project.

I liked how this turned out and will be replicating it in a more universal colour, black.
