Up The Walls
Not the most exciting game.
But it was the final and that can almost be expected. I am glad Spain won, though I would have liked to have seen a few more shots at goals by Argentina - their attack was shockingly bad. Though that is unfair, because they barely got the ball passed to them. Still, Messi will still be considered the GOAT for some time to come.
Speaking of goats.....
Smallsteps and I went climbing again today, this time it was just the two of us and I was climbing also. It was fun and I got up the top of a few walls, but it was also challenging. Towards the end, we were trying different difficulties and even the mid-level ones were very hard work for me. I noticed towards the end that while I was using my legs, I was also leaning too far out from the wall, putting unnecessary pressure on my arms, so by the time I really needed to use them, they were tired.
There is always next time!
The last time we went there, we bought a 3x pass each, so we can still go a couple times more in the next month, which should be perfect for the rainy days. Though, We will definitely have to give a bit of a rest between climbs, as my body isn't made for it. I went to the gym this evening also and well, it wasn't the most effective workout I have done, because some of my muscles were just far too tired to support the other ones.
Changing up movements and having more complex compound movements helps me a lot I think, because it kind of shocks my body into gear in some way. And I did something shocking at the climbing centre also, as they have a lot of other equipment there too, including gymnastics mats. So, to prove one of my theories about feeling like being able to do something from the past and actually still being able to do it, I did a couple of diving rolls, just to test. And yes, while I was able to somewhat successfully complete the roll, my head was spinning halfway through, and it wasn't quite as smooth as it had once been.
But hey, I did it!!!
Obviously, I need to do a lot more dynamic movements than I currently do, even though I have no real reason to do them. It is more that as we get older, we lose balance, strength, and bone density, so the better we maintain our physical ability, the more capable we are as we age. We all get older, we all lose our capabilities, but how fast and to what extent makes a huge difference on our quality of life. Our neighbours are in their mid-eighties, and are more spritely than many fifty year olds I know.
Isn't that sad?
A new week starts and there are still many things on my list to do. The basement painting is half done, with the garage side to go - so that has to be cleared, cleaned and a basecoat put on. And then there is a fair bit of gardening work to do, as I have neglected it the last couple weeks (other than a mow) and I have a lot to catch up on. Not very hard work hopefully, but it is all time-consuming.
Free exercise.
But before I get into that - I need some rest and a sleep.
Talk soon.
