Description from Strava:
I considered volunteering this week, but the roster was full anyway. I will do another week. I have been reading the autobiography of Paul Hinton-Hewitt who started what became parkrun in 2004. He had a tough life, but created something amazing.
At the start I met up with my usual crowd plus Jon who was running with his daughter. It was a nice morning and the course was in good condition even if the wood chippings make it feel like hard work.
I can see from Strava that I started fairly quickly, but settled down after the first lap and then picked up a bit towards the end. I was feeling pretty good and so could give it a good go. I just do not worry about what others are doing, but if someone passes me it may inspire me to try at keep up. That does not always work out.
I gave all I had left at the end and ended up one second slower than last week. If I had matched the time it would could for one of the parkrun challenges for doing the same time two weeks running at the same course. It would be hard to do that intentionally. I am happy with the result anyway as it is another finish under 27 minutes this year. I will work on my interval training to try and do better.
As usual we went for coffee afterwards and it was busy there. There were over 200 finishers and some will stick around for a while.
It has been a day for a few little jobs around the house and garden. The thistles in the photo appeared in our garden and look cool.
Enjoy your weekend and run free!
