Some Arizona Finds

Here are a couple Arizona finds for this #spiderday

I know this guy is technically not an arachnid but it is one of the largest centipedes I have ever seen. It was at least a foot long.

This guy is so large that it eats baby mice instead of insects. It is a pet at a wildlife rehabber that was raised from when it was just a tiny little inch long centipede. I had no idea they got this large as most of the wild ones I've found were only 4-8 inches long.

The house I stayed in was a bit cold and I found a sluggish southern house spider in my room.

The poor character lost its back two legs somehow, but this one is only half grown and hopefully between molts it will regrow its back legs.

I never knew southern house spiders had such small fangs. The poor thing needed to be warmed up and relocated to a safe area to hibernate through the winter.

I always thought these spiders were just solid black but with a macro lens you can see they have some iridescent green hairs on their legs.

Now for an unexpected night snake find. This little thing could easily get eaten by the centipede and was only around 6 inches long. It was hibernating under a shed I was cleaning out and I put it back where I found it. I thought it might have been a worm at first glance it was so small.

That's all of my arachnid and creepy crawly finds in Arizona. Happy #spiderday and thanks for looking :-)
