Estoy de regreso con otra de mis prácticas de dibujo, en esta ocasión decidí aprender a dibujar una abeja, y creo que este será el comienzo de una nueva serie de prácticas que haré para aprender a dibujar distintas cosas, como saben quiero especializarme en dibujo de retratos realistas, pero siento que aún así es importante aprender a dibujar diferentes cosas, como animales y objetos para ir ampliando nuestra biblioteca visual y también como un ejercicio para mejorar el pulso, la línea, la técnica de luces y sombras, etc.

I'm back with another one of my drawing exercises. This time, I decided to learn how to draw a bee, and I think this will be the start of a new series of exercises I’ll do to learn how to draw different things. As you know, I want to specialize in realistic portrait drawing, but I feel that it’s still important to learn how to draw different things, like animals and objects, to expand our visual library and also as an exercise to improve my hand control, line work, and light-and-shadow techniques, etc.

Esta práctica la hice guiandome de una imagen que encontré en Pinterest ideal para principiantes como yo que necesitan aprender paso a paso a dibujar pero partiendo desde estructuras con formas básicas, pero en lugar de hacerlo con lápices de colores decidí hacerlo a lápiz ya que en estos momentos solo me interesa aprender a dibujar la abeja más no aprender a colorearla, las prácticas de color las haré más adelante, además me gusta mucho hacer los dibujos con lápices de grafito y quiso aprovechar a practicar dibujar con un solo lápiz en este caso el 6B para practicar la presión que debo ejercer en el lápiz dependiendo de el efecto que quiera hacer con el.

I did this exercise using an image I found on Pinterest—it’s perfect for beginners like me who need to learn how to draw step by step, starting with basic shapes. But instead of using colored pencils, I decided to use a regular pencil because right now I’m only interested in learning how to draw the bee, not how to color it; I’ll practice coloring later. I also really like drawing with graphite pencils and wanted to take this opportunity to practice drawing with a single pencil—in this case, a 6B—to practice the pressure I need to apply to the pencil depending on the effect I want to achieve.

Este dibujo es pequeño lo hice en un cuarto de hoja tipo carta, porque mi idea es hacer pequeñas prácticas y sí uso una hoja grande pues tengo la tentación de hacer el dibujo grande, además así ahorro las hojas ya que haciéndolo de esa forma puedo hacer 4 dibujos en una sola hoja☺️ es muy importante el ahorro para mí 🤭

This drawing is small—I did it on a quarter-sheet of letter-size paper—because my plan is to do small practice exercises, and if I use a large sheet, I’m tempted to make the drawing big. Plus, this way I save paper, since I can fit four drawings on a single sheet☺️ Saving paper is really important to me 🤭

Comencé el boceto haciendo la estructura del cuerpo de la abeja con tres círculos o mejor dicho dos óvalos y un círculo, antes me costaba muchísimo hacer dibujos, desde que comencé a estructurar ya no sufro tanto, aunque admito que todavía me cuesta por eso necesito hacer prácticas como está guiandome del paso a paso de un dibujo para ir aprendiendo como descomponer objetos en formas básicas para así estructurar bien.

I started the sketch by drawing the bee’s body structure using three circles—or rather, two ovals and one circle. I used to find drawing really difficult, but since I started focusing on structure, it’s not as hard anymore. That said, I’ll admit it’s still a challenge for me, which is why I need to practice—like following a step-by-step guide—to learn how to break objects down into basic shapes so I can structure them properly.

Por cierto estoy haciendo un dibujo de una flor que encontré mientras caminaba le saque una foto y estoy intentando estructurarla yo misma, ese será mi siguiente post, espero que me salga bien, desenme suerte. 🥹🙏🏻

By the way, I'm drawing a flower I found while I was out walking. I took a picture of it and I'm trying to figure out the composition on my own. That'll be my next post. I hope it turns out well—wish me luck. 🥹🙏🏻

Luego comencé a hacer los detalles, las alas, las patas, los ojos, las antenas, aunque las antenas las olvide por completo 🤣 al final cuando tenía el dibujo hecho me di cuenta y se las dibuje, pero en realidad hice todo el dibujo olvidando por completo las antenas. 🤭

Then I started working on the details—the wings, the legs, the eyes, and the antennae—although I completely forgot about the antennae 🤣. In the end, when the drawing was finished, I realized it and drew them in, but I actually did the whole drawing without thinking about the antennae at all. 🤭

Lo que más me cuesta en un dibujo últimamente es darle la textura adecuada al final mis dibujos terminando quedado planos porque no se cómo hacer texturas, en este caso quería hacer la textura bellosa del cuerpo de la abeja y bueno creo que lo logré pero en realidad no sabría explicar como lo hice. 🤭

What I've been struggling with most in my drawings lately is getting the texture right. My drawings end up looking flat because I don't know how to create textures. In this case, I wanted to capture the fuzzy texture of the bee's body, and well, I think I managed it, but I honestly couldn't explain how I did it. 🤭

Y este fue el resultado, me gustó mucho esta práctica porque nunca había hecho una abeja 🐝 y aún así siento que me quedo muy bien, sé que mis post están lejos de ser tutoriales para aprender a dibujar, los hago más para esas personas que como yo están luchando por aprender a dibujar y necesitan motivación o sentir que no están solo en este proceso que así como ellos se estancan o sienten que no avanzan yo también paso por lo mismo pero intento seguir adelante. Así que si estás pasando un proceso de aprendizaje igual o parecido al mío no te rindas, vamos que se puede. 🥰🫂

And this was the result. I really enjoyed this exercise because I’d never drawn a bee 🐝 before, and yet I feel like it turned out really well. I know my posts are far from being tutorials on how to draw; I make them more for people who, like me, are struggling to learn how to draw and need motivation or to feel that they’re not alone in this process—that just as they hit a wall or feel like they’re not making progress, I go through the same thing too, but I try to keep going. So if you’re going through a learning process similar to mine, don’t give up—come on, you can do it. 🥰🫂
