Estuve ausente las últimas dos semanas porque la verdad no tenía cabeza para ser creativa ni crear ningún tipo de contenido, aunque vivo lejos del sitio donde ocurrió la tragedia debido al doblete sísmico en mi país Venezuela, lo cierto es que fue algo que nos afectó a todos los venezolanos sumiendonos en una tristeza profunda y es que no es necesario tener familiares afectados, en mi caso mi familia que vive en Caracas, gracias a Dios, están bien, pero fue inevitable para mí sentir tristeza por las víctimas de esta tragedia, además se sentía raro seguir con mis actividades normales cuando muchas personas estaban viviendo momentos tan doloros. 😔🇻🇪

I’ve been away for the past two weeks because, to be honest, I just couldn’t bring myself to be creative or create any kind of content. Even though I live far from where the tragedy occurred—the double earthquake in my country, Venezuela—the truth is that it affected all of us Venezuelans, plunging us into deep sadness. You don’t have to have family members who were affected; in my case, my family in Caracas, thank God, is fine, but I couldn’t help but feel sad for the victims of this tragedy. It also felt strange to carry on with my normal activities while so many people were going through such painful times. 😔🇻🇪

La segunda semana después de la tragedia me obligué a trabajar en la manualidad que hoy les traigo, porque en el local evangélico donde me congrego estaba próxima la presentación de temas de los niños de la clase bíblica que por cierto, se realizó el domingo 12 de Julio y necesitaban que ayudara a hacer unos letreros o carteles colgantes de foami, en estás presentaciones cada integrante expone un tema de la biblia y en el caso de los niños pequeños dicen un acróstico, la palabra de ese acróstico era JESÚS.

The second week after the tragedy, I forced myself to work on the craft I’m sharing with you today, because at the evangelical church where I worship, the children’s Bible class was about to present their projects—which, by the way, took place on Sunday, July 12—and they needed my help making some signs or hanging banners out of foam, In these presentations, each participant presents a Bible topic, and in the case of the younger children, they recite an acrostic; the word in that acrostic was JESUS.

Es primera vez que hago este tipo de manualidad, pero no fue para nada difícil al contrario fue súper fácil sobre todo porque me facilitaron los moldes de las letras, lo cuál agradecí porque no tenía cabeza para hacerlas yo misma y es que debo admitir que aunque reconozco que es un trabajo fácil estaba muy nerviosa y con miedo de arruinarlo porque es primera vez que me piden que haga algo para la clase bíblica y sentí que era una responsabilidad muy grande, pero gracias a Dios todo salió bien y ya si más preámbulo los invito a ver el paso a paso de esta sencilla manualidad. 🥰

This is the first time I've done this kind of craft project, but it wasn't difficult at all—on the contrary, it was super easy, especially since they provided me with the letter templates, which I appreciated because I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to make them myself. I have to admit that even though I know it’s an easy project, I was really nervous and afraid of messing it up—since this is the first time I’ve been asked to make something for Bible class, and I felt like it was a huge responsibility. But thank God everything turned out well, and without further ado, I invite you to check out the step-by-step guide for this simple craft. 🥰

• Foami azul escarchado.
• Cartulina azul.
• Tijera.
• Perforadora de papel.
• Silicón líquido.

✨Paso a paso|Step-by-step✨

Lo primero que hice fue pasar los moldes de las letras a la cartulina azúl, como dije en la introducción los moldes me los facilitaron y eso me agilizó muchísimo el trabajo. Con un lápiz comencé a pasar los moldes a la cartulina y luego los recorte con la ayuda de unas tijeras.✂️❤️

The first thing I did was trace the letter templates onto the blue cardstock. As I mentioned in the introduction, the templates were provided to me, which made the process much faster. Using a pencil, I began tracing the templates onto the cardstock and then cut them out with scissors.✂️❤️

El siguiente paso fue abrir los huecos por donde se iban a meter las cintas para colgarles las letras a los niños, les cuento que yo no cuento con esta herramienta, pero una hermana en Cristo se ofreció a prestarme la suya, cuando la tuve en mis manos me di cuenta de lo mucho que necesito una perforadora de papel, sobre todo porque saben que amo hacer cuadernos y está herramienta me vendría de maravilla. 🥰

The next step was to punch the holes where the ribbons would go so the kids could hang their letters. I should mention that I don’t have this tool, but a sister in Christ offered to lend me hers. When I held it in my hands, I realized just how much I need a hole punch—especially since you know I love making notebooks, and this tool would be perfect for me. 🥰

El siguiente paso fue sacar las letras en Foami y para eso en vez de usar los moldes originales, lo que hice fue usar las letras que saque en cartulina azul, con la ayuda de un palillo pase los moldes al foami y con la ayuda de las tijeras ✂️ las recorte.

The next step was to cut out the letters from Foami. Instead of using the original templates, I used the letters I had traced onto blue cardstock. With the help of a toothpick, I traced the templates onto the Foami, and then used scissors ✂️ to cut them out.

Y de la misma manera que hice con la letras de cartulina hice con las de foami, con la ayuda de la perforadora le abrí los huecos para pasar la cinta.

And just as I did with the cardboard letters, I did the same with the foam letters; using the hole punch, I punched holes in them to thread the ribbon through.

Lista las dos piezas de cada letra, o sea, la pieza de cartulina y la de Foami, el siguiente paso fue pegarlas con abundante silicón líquido y digo abundante porque tenía miedo de que quedara mal pegado y se despegará y es que además los niños que iban a llevar estás letras son niños bastante pequeños y curiosos y tenía miedo de que pudieran romperlas fácilmente. 🤭

Once I had the two pieces for each letter ready—that is, the cardboard piece and the Foami piece—the next step was to glue them together with plenty of liquid silicone. I say “plenty” because I was afraid they wouldn’t stick well and would come apart, especially since the kids who were going to carry these letters are pretty young and curious, and I was worried they might break them easily. 🤭

Por último pero no menos importante, decidí que se vería lindo con un contorno azul al borde de la letra, como no tengo pintura al frío improvise y lo hice con un lápiz de color azul y bueno me pareció que quedó bastante bien.

Last but not least, I decided it would look nice with a blue outline around the letters. Since I didn't have any cold-weather paint, I improvised and used a blue colored pencil, and I thought it turned out pretty well.

Y ese fue el resultado de esta manualidad, me gustó mucho como quedo, fue sencillo pero cumplió con el propósito, gracias a Dios y bueno, no quise ponerle las cintas por miedo a hacer mal los cálculos, deje que las maestras se las pusieran a cada niño y a bueno a esta presentación no pude asistir por asuntos familiares que tenía que atender, me quedé con las ganas,😔 pero trataré de no perderme la del próximo año. 😊❤️

And that was the result of this craft project—I really liked how it turned out. It was simple but served its purpose, thank God. Well, I didn’t want to attach the ribbons myself because I was afraid I’d get the measurements wrong, so I let the teachers put them on each child. And, well, I couldn’t attend the presentation because of family matters I had to take care of—I really wanted to go, 😔 but I’ll try not to miss next year’s. 😊❤️
