Mi mamá quería regalarle un nuevo testamento a mi hermano mayor, pero quería dárselo en un envoltorio bonito y me pidió que le hiciera uno, casi le digo que no porque ya casi no tengo materiales para manualidades, solo me quedan algunos retazos de foami y me quedaba un poquito de silicón dentro de la pistola, pero me dije: ¡vamos a intentarlo! Al principio iba a hacer una simple bolsita con una hoja blanca y adornarla con algunos detallitos, pero luego recordé que existen estos estuches o cartucheras de foami para guardar bolígrafos que hace meses ví y quería aprender a hacer, la idea original de estos estuches es para guardar bolígrafos o lápices, pero me pareció que podía adaptarlo y convertirlo en un lindo envoltorio para regalar el nuevo testamento de una manera linda y original.

My mom wanted to give my older brother a new will as a gift, but she wanted to wrap it in something pretty, so she asked me to make her a gift bag. I almost said no because I’m almost out of craft supplies—I only have a few scraps of foam left, and there was just a little bit of hot glue left in the glue gun—but I told myself, “Let’s give it a try!” At first, I was going to make a simple little bag out of a white sheet of paper and decorate it with a few little details, but then I remembered those foam pencil cases I’d seen months ago and wanted to learn how to make— The original idea for these cases is to hold pens or pencils, but I thought I could adapt it and turn it into a cute gift wrap to present the New Testament in a lovely and original way.

Además de eso me pareció lindo personalizarlo, el apellido de mi hermano mayor es León 🦁 y él siempre se ha sentido muy orgulloso de su apellido incluso hasta a mí me gusta porque se escucha poderoso 🤭 así que siempre jugamos diciendo que él es el Rey león entonces decidí ponerle al estuche un leoncito para que se viera más kuit, pero como les digo casi no tengo materiales entonces me tocó trabajar con lo poco que tenía, aún así siento que logré la misión de crear un envoltorio de regalo super lindo y original, pero ya basta de charla y acompañé a ver los materiales que use y el paso a paso. 🥰

On top of that, I thought it would be cute to personalize it—my older brother’s last name is León 🦁, and he’s always been really proud of his last name. I even like it because it sounds powerful 🤭, so we always joke that he’s the Lion King. That’s why I decided to put a little lion on the box to make it look cuter, but as I said, I hardly have any supplies, so I had to work with what little I had. Even so, I feel like I succeeded in creating a super cute and original gift wrap. But enough chit-chat—let’s take a look at the materials I used and the step-by-step process. 🥰

✨Paso a paso|Step-by-step✨

Para hacer el estuche utilice un retazo de foami azúl escarchado, tuve la suerte de que justo me sirviera para envolver por completo el nuevo testamento, lo empareje quitando los excesos de foami y me quedo un rectángulo de 20Cm de ancho y 13 Cm de alto, el tamaño ideal para formar el estuche para el nuevo testamento. Luego lleve ambos extremos del rectángulo hacia el centro poniendo uno sobre otro y los pegue con silicón caliente.

To make the case, I used a scrap of frosted blue foam. I was lucky that it was just the right size to completely wrap around the New Testament. I trimmed it to fit, removing the excess foam, and ended up with a rectangle 20 cm wide and 13 cm high—the ideal size for making a case for the New Testament. Then I brought both ends of the rectangle toward the center, placing one on top of the other, and glued them together with hot glue.

Luego recorte de manera curva uno de los extremos del estuche ese parte será la parte de abajo del estuche y para cerrarlo lleve hacia adentro la parte que tiene el empate y luego hice lo mismo con la otra parte y pegue ambas partes con silicón caliente. Y de esa forma queda sellada la parte de abajo.

Next, cut one end of the case in a curved shape—that part will be the bottom of the case—and to close it, fold the part with the tab inward. Then I did the same with the other side and glued both parts together with hot glue. That seals the bottom of the case.

Luego hice la solapa o tapa del estuche y para eso recorte una pieza de 9cm de ancho y 11 de alto. Como pueden ver redondee uno de los extremos para darle más estilo o por lo menos a mí en encantan los boden redondeados. Luego lo pegue con silicón caliente a la parte de atrás del estuche que es la parte que tiene el empate.

Next, I made the flap or lid for the case, and to do that, I cut out a piece that was 9 cm wide and 11 cm tall. As you can see, I rounded one of the corners to give it more style—or at least, I love rounded corners. Then I glued it to the back of the case using hot glue, which is the part with the tab.

Y también le añadí un pedacito de Velcro para abrir y cerrar el estuche y les comento que el silicón que había dentro de la pistola de silicón incluso me alcanzó para pegar el Velcro, estaba súper nerviosa pensando que no me iba a alcanzar incluso tuve que usar el truco de meter un color dentro de la pistola para empujar el poquito de silicón que tenía dentro 🤣🤭 lo bueno fue que me alcanzó, pero ahora sí oficialmente no tengo silicón. 🤣

And I also added a little piece of Velcro to open and close the case, and I’ll tell you—the silicone that was inside the silicone gun was actually enough to glue the Velcro on. I was super nervous thinking I wouldn’t have enough; I even had to use the trick of putting some color inside the gun to push out the tiny bit of silicone that was left inside 🤣🤭 The good news is that I had enough, but now I’m officially out of silicone. 🤣

Cuando estuvo listo el estuche estaba tan emocionada que metí el nuevo testamento para ver si de verdad lo había hecho del tamaño perfecto y pues como pueden ver en la imagen entro perfecto tanto de ancho como de alto, aunque la verdad de alto si falle un poco en la medida pero no fue una falla tan grande así que lo deje pasar. 🤭

When the case was ready, I was so excited that I put the New Testament inside to see if I’d really made it the perfect size, and well, as you can see in the picture, it fits perfectly both widthwise and heightwise. Although, to be honest, I did mess up the height measurement a little, but it wasn’t a huge mistake, so I let it slide. 🤭

Para el leoncito improvise unos moldes que dibuje yo misma, y recorte las piezas, hice la melena del león en foami escarchado dorado y para la cara del león necesitaba amarillo, pero como no tenía me tocó usar el mismo foami dorado escarchado pero por la parte de atrás o sea, la parte amarilla 🤭 truquitos de artesana de bajo presupuesto que se aprenden sobre la marcha. También recorte los ojos y la nariz en foami negro escarchado. Y fui pegando cada pieza en su lugar, arme la carita pegando los ojos la narizón y con un bolígrafo dibuje la boca y los bigotes del leoncito, para ponerle los brillos a los ojos use foami blanco.

For the little lion, I improvised some templates that I drew myself and cut out the pieces. I made the lion’s mane out of gold-glitter foam, and for the lion’s face I needed yellow, but since I didn’t have any, I had to use the same gold-glitter foam but from the back side—that is, the yellow part 🤭 Little tricks from a budget-conscious crafter that you learn as you go. I also cut out the eyes and nose from black glitter foam. Then I glued each piece into place, put the face together by gluing on the eyes and the big nose, and used a pen to draw the little lion’s mouth and whiskers. To add sparkles to the eyes, I used white glitter foam.

Lately, my dream has been to learn how to make different animals and figures out of foam, but I want to learn how to paint their faces with cold-set paint. I'm going to gather the materials little by little so I can learn, God willing.

Lista la carita, incluída la parte interna de las orejas que olvide mencionar en el párrafo anterior, la pegué a la melena y listo. Por cierto para eso utilicé silicón frío. Es súper importante tener ambos tipos de silicón.

Once the face was ready—including the inside of the ears, which I forgot to mention in the previous paragraph—I attached it to the hair, and that was it. By the way, I used cold silicone for that. It’s really important to have both types of silicone.

Y como último paso, pegue el leoncito en el estuche y este fue el resultado final de este envoltorio de regalo que a mí parecer es bastante original y nos ayuda a hacer regalos más bonitos, personalizados y significativos, siento que sirve para cualquier tipo de regalo, para regalar pendras o hasta dulces o cosméticos incluso si es un regalo un poco más grande solo es cuestión de hacerlo a la medida que se necesite. Me gusta mucho jugar con la utilidad que se le da a una manualidad, siento que no hay nada escrito, un estuche de bolígrafos puede convertirse en un hermoso envoltorio para regalar algo es solo cuestión de usar la imaginación y darle la utilidad que querramos a las manualidades que hacemos. 🥰❤️

And as a final step, glue the little lion onto the case—and this was the final result of this gift wrap, which I think is quite original and helps us create prettier, more personalized, and more meaningful gifts. I feel like it works for any kind of gift—whether you’re giving pendras, candy, or even cosmetics—and even if it’s a slightly larger gift, it’s just a matter of adjusting the size as needed. I really enjoy experimenting with the different uses we can give to a craft project. I feel like there are no set rules—a pen case can become beautiful gift wrapping. It’s just a matter of using your imagination and finding the purpose you want for the crafts you make. 🥰❤️
