It's time for another #Splinterlands Card Spotlight, and today I wanted to take a look at a card that I don't really see people talking about that much.

The card is Deep Delver.

At first glance, it doesn't really look like anything too special. It's just a small gnome carrying a strange crossbow, but after checking out its abilities, I realized there is actually a lot going on with this card.

Deep Delver is a Rare Death unit, and at Level 8 (max level) it unlocks three interesting abilities that can make it fit into some unique team compositions.

Let's have a closer look.

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

The artwork is honestly pretty cool.

Instead of looking scary like most Death units, Deep Delver almost looks confident and ready for trouble. It gives the Death splinter a slightly different vibe.

Looking at the stats, here's what stands out:

• Mana Cost: 7

• Ranged Attack: 4

• Health: 6

• Armor: 1

• Speed: 2

The stats aren't anything crazy, but they look balanced enough.

Four ranged damage is always nice, especially on a card that also brings utility instead of just raw damage.

The low speed is probably its biggest weakness though.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟏: 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐭

Rust: -2 armor to all enemy units.

The first ability is Rust.

This removes 2 armor from all enemy units before the battle really gets going.

I always like Rust because armor can be really annoying sometimes.

Removing it early lets your damage dealers start hitting health much sooner.

Against heavy armor teams, this ability can make a noticeable difference.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟐: 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠

Corrupted Healing: Each round, restore 70% of max health to other allied units. Each time a unit is healed, it's max health is reduced by 1.

Next comes the most interesting ability, Corrupted Healing.

Each round, it restores 70% of another allied unit's maximum health, but every time a unit gets healed, its maximum health is reduced by 1.

That's a pretty unusual mechanic.

You're getting a really strong heal, but it comes with a cost.

So instead of endless healing, you have to think carefully about longer battles.

I actually think this makes the card more fun because there is a little risk involved.

Sometimes the healing saves your tank.

Sometimes reducing the maximum health later becomes a problem.

It's an interesting trade-off.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟑: 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝

Deflection Shroud: At the start of battle, adjacent units gain Deflect.

The last ability is Deflection Shroud.

At the start of battle, adjacent friendly units gain Deflect.

That means those nearby allies can reduce damage from reflected attacks.

It's another support ability that doesn't always get noticed immediately, but in certain matchups it can be really useful.

Especially when facing teams that rely on reflected damage.

𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

After looking through everything, I think Deep Delver is definitely more of a support card than a pure damage dealer.

Sure, four ranged attack is respectable.

But the real value comes from all the extra utility.

Rust weakens enemy defenses.

Corrupted Healing helps your frontline survive.

Deflection Shroud protects nearby teammates.

That's actually a pretty solid combination.

I probably wouldn't throw this card into every battle, but for the right lineup it could become very valuable.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐈 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞

There are quite a few things I liked about this card:

• Good ranged damage.

• Rust helps the whole team.

• Strong healing ability.

• Useful support effects.

• Can fit into several different strategies.

Overall, it feels like one card doing multiple jobs.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐈 𝐃𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞

Of course, nothing is perfect.

Some weaknesses I noticed:

• Low speed.

• Very little armor.

• Corrupted Healing has a downside.

• Needs good positioning to get maximum value from Deflection Shroud.

Still, I don't think these problems are too serious.

They just mean you need to build your team carefully.

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍

After spending some time looking at Deep Delver, I actually like this card more than I expected.

It's not one of those flashy monsters that wins games by itself.

Instead, it quietly supports the rest of your team.

Sometimes those are the cards that end up making the biggest difference.

Rust helps your attackers.

Corrupted Healing keeps important units alive.

Deflection Shroud gives extra protection where it's needed.

That's a lot of value packed into one rare card.

I don't think Deep Delver is a card everyone will instantly fall in love with, but if you enjoy support-focused strategies, I think it's definitely worth trying.

I'll probably test it in a few more battles myself and see how well it performs in different rulesets.

Who knows, maybe it'll become one of my favorite support cards.
