Today is a really good day because recently about a week ago I ordered two books and they finally arrived today.

So there is something about waiting for a package with books that makes you keep checking every day for a week hoping they would come earlier. Today came the long wait's end. I got Days at the Morisaki Bookshop. Satoshi Yagisawa wrote it. Also got More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop.

I have been hearing people talk about these books for quite a while now. At first I ignored them because my reading list is already too long. But the more I saw people recommending them, the more curious I became. Eventually I decided that maybe it was time to see what all the hype was about.

What finally convinced me to buy them was actually something really random, an Instagram reel.

I was just scrolling like everyone does when a short video popped up talking about cozy Japanese books. The creator described Days at the Morisaki Bookshop as a warm, comforting story that feels like drinking a cup of coffee while sitting inside a quiet bookstore on a rainy afternoon. That description alone was enough to grab my attention.

Then I went into the comments, and almost everyone was saying how wholesome and relaxing the book was. Usually I don't buy books just because they are trending on social media, but this one genuinely looked interesting. After reading a few reviews online, I decided to order both books together.

The funny thing is, I wasn't even planning on buying new books this month.

Sometimes social media really does influence us more than we think.

Another reason I didn't think twice before ordering them was the price. I managed to get both books for only Rs. 650 (around $2 USD), which honestly feels like an amazing deal. Books can get pretty expensive here, especially imported editions, so whenever I find a good bargain I usually take it.

Getting two highly recommended books for that price felt like a win.

One thing I absolutely love is the cover art.

Before even opening the books, I spent several minutes just looking at the illustrations. They have this peaceful bookstore aesthetic with shelves full of books, little plants, warm colors, and tiny details everywhere. Even if I knew nothing about the story, I probably would have picked them up because the covers are just beautiful.

I'm a big fan of books that have simple but charming artwork instead of flashy designs.

These covers instantly give off calm and relaxing vibes.

It's the kind of book you want to read while sitting beside a window during rainy weather with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Even though I haven't started reading them yet, they already make me excited.

I don't know if anyone else does this, but sometimes I buy books simply because they look nice on a bookshelf.

Hopefully these won't just look good, but also turn out to be memorable reads.

Right now though, I have one small problem, I'm still reading The Shining by Stephen King.

I promised myself I wouldn't start another book until I finished the one I'm currently reading. I have a terrible habit of starting multiple books at the same time and then struggling to finish any of them. This time I'm trying to be a little more disciplined.

Thankfully, I'm making good progress through The Shining, and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's completely different from what I expect these Morisaki books to be.

Stephen King's novel is intense, mysterious, and slowly builds tension with every chapter.

These Japanese novels, on the other hand, seem much quieter and more emotional.

I actually think it'll be the perfect change of pace after finishing a horror novel.

Going from haunted hotels and psychological horror to peaceful bookstores sounds like a pretty nice transition.

One thing I've noticed recently is that I've been enjoying slower books more than action packed ones.

Maybe it's because life gets busy sometimes, and reading something calm feels like taking a break from everything else.

From what I've heard, these books focus more on everyday life, relationships, healing, and the comfort that books can bring to people. If that's true, I think they'll be exactly what I need after finishing a horror story.

I've also heard they're fairly short, which is another plus. Sometimes it's nice to finish a book in just a few days instead of spending weeks on a massive novel.

I'm hoping these books live up to all the praise they've been getting online.

Of course, I've learned not to expect perfection. Sometimes books that everyone loves don't really connect with me, while books nobody talks about end up becoming my favorites.

That's one of the fun things about reading. Every reader experiences a story differently.

Still, I have a good feeling about these.

For now they'll stay safely on my shelf until I finish The Shining, but every time I walk past them I get a little more excited to finally open that first page.

Hopefully they end up becoming two of my favorite reads this year.
