致中和 - the middle way
As human being, we all have emotions, how to express it? There are two ways, constructive vs destructive way.
Mr. Yangming said that we should do it in the middle way, ie, the constructive one. That is, when we have emotions, accept it, and express it in the way our conscience allows, then let it go. This way, we finished our this part of experience process in human life, then we can move on.
Unfortunately, most of us fall in the latter, ie, the destructive one. We allowed our emotions to swallow us, or control us, and did something we regretted when we calmed down. In Buddhist class, we failed this lesson, hence we have to re-learn it. That is why when we look back to examine our life experience, we found we repeated some life experience over and over again, like marrying an abusive partner more than once. In my experience it is discrimination. Since I failed to learn this lesson, history, or god, patiently gave me a chance to re-learn it over and over again, by repeating this kind of situation.
How to do it in the middle way as Mr. Yangming said, you might ask. From my experience, if we can separate ourselves from the ego, and observe our life like god, this way, we can express our emotions without hurting others and ourselves, like in this song:
