Y ese amor y dedicación lo percibí un día que llegue de visita a la casa del arquitecto Marbelio, aquí en Bauta, la ciudad donde vivo.

Estás bellezas de flores y orquídeas de vaiedades que no conozco dan un bello regalo a la vista de los visitantes. Cuantas veces buscamos adquirir objetos caros o hacer costosos diseños en nuestros jardines, cuando apoyar el florecimiento de las plantas y sus flores nos trae belleza inigualable.

No sabía de la afición de Marbelio y su esposa por las plantas. El es un arquitecto ya retirado, y ambos siempre han incursionado en el campo de la artesanía. La belleza de las plantas abrió otro tema de interés mutuo y me invitaron a conocer las variedades que adornan su patio y la azotea.

En el patio lo más admirable es este hermoso platicerio...

También tienen plantas más pequeñas como esta de orégano, una especie que sirve para cocinar y para fines medicinales.

Otra hermosa variedad de orquídea crece esplendorosa en la sombra y la humedad del patio.

Allí está también este bonito Helecho con su verde frescor.

En un momento Marbelio me invitó a seguirlo hacia otra zona techada del jardín de la casa para mostrarme una variedad de pequeñas orquídeas que tan timidas y bellas crecen allí.

Después me invitaron a subir al techo, y no me esperaba tan exhuberante vegetación en un lugar que generalmente las personas no usan para cultivar. Esta lleno de plantas ornamentales, pero lo más interesante es que aprovecharon el espacio para sembrar especies comestibles para el autoconsumo familiar.

En un rincón descubrí estas dos pequeñas matas de calabaza creciendo verdes y felices.

Más al centro se veían las espinacas de enredadera, una variedad muy estimada para consumir como ensalada.

Los cactus no pueden faltar en toda colección de plantas que se respete, y estos se ve que están muy bien cuidados.

La esposa de Marbelio me mostró su técnica para enriquecer la tierra. En ese momento deje de tomar fotos y me puse a ayudarla a rellenar algunas vasijas para usarlas como macetas y sembrar otras variedades.

La naturaleza está por doquier, incluso en los pequeños detalles surgen formas maravillosas. Es increíble como ellos han logrado con su constancia y amor hacer un pequeño universo verde con el que pueden alimentar su cuerpo, pero también darle al alma un jardín bellezas donde disfrutar de la felicidad.

I wasn't aware of Marbelio and his wife's passion for plants. He's a retired architect, and they've both always dabbled in crafts. The beauty of plants sparked another shared interest, and they invited me to see the varieties that adorn their patio and rooftop.

The most admirable thing in the courtyard is this beautiful collection of platices...

They also have smaller plants like this oregano, a species used for cooking and medicinal purposes.

Another beautiful variety of orchid grows splendidly in the shade and humidity of the patio.

There too is this beautiful fern with its fresh green color.

At one point Marbelio invited me to follow him to another covered area of ​​the house's garden to show me a variety of small orchids that grow so shy and beautiful there.

Then they invited me up to the roof, and I wasn't expecting such lush vegetation in a place that people don't usually use for growing things. It's full of ornamental plants, but the most interesting thing is that they've used the space to grow edible plants for their family's own consumption.

In one corner I discovered these two small pumpkin plants growing green and happy.

Further towards the center were the climbing spinach, a variety highly valued for eating in salads.

And to my surprise, they've even planted a banana seedling. I don't know what they'll do when the plant grows bigger so they can support it... I'll let you know.

Cacti are a must-have in any self-respecting plant collection, and these look like they're very well cared for.

Marbelio's wife showed me her technique for enriching the soil. At that moment, I stopped taking photos and started helping her fill some pots to use as planters for other varieties.

Nature is everywhere; even in the smallest details, wonderful forms emerge. It's incredible how, with their perseverance and love, they have created a small green universe that nourishes their bodies and gives their souls a beautiful garden where they can find happiness.
