Nastar or Pineapple Tarts

Hi bloggers and food lovers. Today, still in celebration of Eid Mubarak, I’m going to share a pineapple tart recipe that’s a must-have in our home during Eid. It’s called nastar, a tart filled with pineapple jam. It has a sweet and tangy flavor and a soft texture. Okay, let’s get it right:

Ingredients:

Filling:

  • 1 pineapple
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • vanilla powder

Tart:

  • 500 grams butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 packet vanilla powder
  • 1 packet powdered milk
  • 100 grams powdered sugar
  • 50 grams cornstarch
  • 800 grams all-purpose flour

Instructions:

Filling:

  • Peel the pineapple and rinse under running water

  • Grate the pineapple and place it in a saucepan

  • Add the sugar and cinnamon

  • Add vanili powder

  • Cook until the liquid reduces and thickens into a jam

  • Let cool and set aside

Tart:

  • Prepare the butter and place it in a mixing bowl

  • Crack the eggs and separate the yolks from the whites

  • Add the egg yolks to the bowl

  • Add powdered sugar and powdered milk

  • Add cornstarch and vanilla powder

  • Mix briefly using a mixer on low speed (just until combined)

  • Turn off the mixer and gradually add all-purpose flour until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky

  • Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball

  • Fill with the prepared pineapple jam

  • Seal the dough and shape into round cookies

  • Place on a baking tray

  • Repeat until all the dough is used

  • Brush with egg yolk mixed with 2 drops of yellow food coloring

  • Bake at 302°F or 150°C for 25 minutes

  • Let cool and serve
