On previous note we ended thread 2 of 10 on why the need for privacy and how confidentiality doesn't generally mean absolute privacy but rather a controlled one where assets are still auditable and verifiable when needed.

Thread 3 of 10 is focused on individuals and organisations presently pushing for this from Ethereum Vitalik and Ethereum ecosystem in general to a16z.

PlatON reports states,

More institutions, exchanges, and infrastructure builders are now discussing confidential assets.

The market is raising a new requirement:

Assets must remain verifiable and auditable — but amounts, balances, and transaction relationships do not always need to be disclosed to the entire network.

In this episode, we start with a16z and Vitalik — and look at where the industry is heading.

Moving forward, the report shows that a16z crypto direction talks about stablecoins to decentralized compliance and Confidential tokens for payments, this is used rather than anonymous coins, assets are hidden but remains verifiable and auditable when the needs arise.

The report further goes on to explain Vitalik and Ethereum ecosystem view which are divided into 4 sections,

Default privacy — crypto payments shouldn't stay pseudonymous forever

Censorship resistance — private transactions must not be filtered at mempool / block-building layers

Access-layer privacy — if wallets or RPC expose IP ↔ address links, on-chain encryption alone isn't enough

Selective disclosure — prove funds are legitimate, taxes paid, or not blacklisted — without full transaction history exposure.

In summary, all parties involve are heading or align in the same part meaning assets/tokens can be selectively hidden from wallet balance to transaction history but they should remain auditable and verifiable whenever appropriate need or authorities demands for such.
