Finally having something new from the local craft beer market. TELEKINETIC DYNAMITE we talk about!
Hey, beer lovers! How are you? It is Saturday and it is finally time to try an interesting new beer. I say new, but really don’t know when this one came out… One thing is certain, it is new to me and something that I have never seen in the craft beer shops.
The first time I saw it on the shelf it was facing me with these a bit unclear letters and it looked like a beer that doesn’t need a fancy label and overall design. It definitely felt like a premium craft beer that counts mainly on the beer quality itself. When I grabbed the can it showed a cool looking metalhead… now that’s a bit different, although still relatively clean looking.
After a bit of reading, I understood that this is a local Bulgarian brewery, which surprised me a bit… and the beer inside was furthermore surprising. IPA - Barrel, Brett and Eldorado. Wow! That’s a combo!
Brett fermentation is not something that common in the beer world, especially Bulgarian craft beers and the barrels used make it even more extraordinary. Every brewery tends to make IPAs, PAs and Stouts, but brett and barrels are definitely a different theory. And definitely a lot more difficult to work with. Brewers have to be extra careful not to spoil the things. So I was eager to find out if this was gonna be a good beer ot not.
The first thing to notice when opening the can is probably the Eldorado hops aroma. Definitely something that stands out and makes the first good impression. The color is golden and the head is a bit rough, not so lasting, which is common for a brett fermented beverage. It almost looks like a fine champagne, with these fine big bubbles. I like how this looks in the glass!
I have to admit that the brett character is a bit faint in the aroma and you have to reach your beer closely in order to catch the wild character. It definitely is here, but not so intense. The balance between hops and brett is quite good in the nose. Let’s try the beer now!
I don’t know how they came with the bame - Telekinetic Dynamite, but it sounds cool. Tastewise, the dynamite replicates the aroma, but with more intense brett influence. Light body and light hop flavor. Definitely brett ate all the sugars and this made the taste a bit underdeveloped. I dont find much of a barrel character, if any. There is a bit of a harsh alcohol feeling, that can become better with time, but the last definitely isn’t friend with the fresh hops flavor.
Overal, the beer is quite interesting, but as I expected it is something tricky to brew. I am happy that I chose this, because it gave me something different and extraordinary, but I really think thics can be refined a bit in future versions if they are coming.
Brett is not for everyday, but I like tasting some, occasionally. Definitely a beer worth of tasting.
That’s for today, see you soon and have a great weekend. Cheers and bye!
