Triple Threat (2019)
Before yesterday, I had thought about this movie many times. Sometimes, I felt I had watched it, and other times, I was just doubtful. Yesterday, I decided to give it a shot, and if I found out that I had watched it before, it would still make for a good rewatch because the movie looked really interesting from the action clips I had come across on social media.
I won't lie, the action-packed nature of the movie really had me glued to the screen. I must also give kudos to the director for delivering a straightforward and never confusing storyline.
The first scene of the movie featured a group of mercenaries on a mission to a camp in a village to rescue a heavily guarded and caged terrorist. The group hired some local mercenaries from the village, and the battle was really intense. At the end of the operation, when they had rescued the man, two of the hired local mercenaries were left behind to die in the fire blast because they were no longer needed. However, the two guys smartly found their way out before the bomb exploded. One of the survivors from the camp, whose wife was killed, vowed to take revenge on the mercenaries who had terrorized the camp.
His trail led him to the two surviving local mercenaries. He set them up as a way to get to the boss who had sent them, and along the line, Xian, a female philanthropist who had devoted her wealth to bringing down the evil cartels in the city, became a target. The same group was sent to kill her, but luckily for her, she received help from the two guys (formerly abandoned mercenaries), and they became a team on the run.
The fight choreography is very entertaining and appears so real. I could feel every bit of it, and it looked like a real-life fight. But I can't just stop wondering why they must insist on dropping their guns to fight with their hands. I know that will make it entertaining, but I just feel it's off. Let it be that something led to the situation and not just the willingness to drop the guns to fight with their hands. I frowned at these parts a lot. By the way, the gun shooting scenes are entertaining too.
The casts used are well fitted to their characters. But the use of English gave it a little bit of awkwardness; they should have stayed with their Chinese, Thailand and Indonesian languages.
Anyways, the movie is still very interesting, and I will rate it 9/10.
