Celebrating the Most Important Woman in Our Lives: Mother's Day Family Bonding at SM City Cebu
Mother's Day is one of the most important celebrations in a mother's life because it is a day dedicated to recognizing and appreciating all the sacrifices, hard work, and love that mothers give to their families. I know for a fact that being a mother is not easy because they have countless responsibilities and always do their best to keep their family safe, happy, and cared for. As our way of celebrating Mother's Day, we decided to go to SM City Cebu so we could spend quality time together, enjoy a family bonding, and create new memories through another fun bonding experience.
This is a late upload since this happened last month during Mother's Day, and I only remembered to post it now. Better late than never, right?
PREPARATION
We woke up very early because we planned to leave at dawn since we live in the province and the trip to the city takes around 4 hours. Before going to SM City Cebu, we also planned to visited my boarding house for college because my father wanted to see the place and check if it was safe for me.
We woke up at around 2 AM, prepared all the things that we wanted to bring, and by 2:30 AM, we were already waiting for a bus. We waited for about 30 minutes, but there was still no bus, so we decided to wak to another bus stop at 4 AM. It was honestly scary because we had to pass by a cemetery, and I even ended up, even though I was wearing heels.
Carinderia Incident
After about 4 hours of travel, we finally arrived in the city. We just had breakfast at a carinderia, but unfortunately, my dad and my sibling ended up with stomach aches because of what they ate. Good thing my mom and I didn’t experience the same thing, so we were okay.
They said that the pain was really severe, so we decided to buy medicine from the nearest pharmacy. After that, we rode two jeepneys going to my boarding house, and our fare was only 10 pesos each.
Boarding House
And finally, we arrived at my boarding house. My dad actually liked it, but I don’t have any photos of my room because I was mostly taking videos. The green building in the picture above is the main building, while my room is located in the new building at the back. After my parents checked the place, we immediateely made a downpayment so it wouldn’t be taken by someone else. I was already sure about choosing that boarding house for my college journey.
I was feeling mixed emotions about my college life. I was excited about experiencing solo living and gaining independence, but at the same time, I was also nervous if i could really handle it on my own. I felt a bit relieved though because my friends will also be staying in the same boarding house, even if their rooms are on the second floor, so at least I won’t feel completely alone.
SM City Cebu
After checking the boarding house, we rode two jeepneys going to SM City Cebu since it was more practical and cheaper compared to taking a taxi. When we arrived, the mall wasn’t open yet, so we waited outside for about 10 minutes. Once it finally opened, we went inside right away. Since my mom and dad were still fulll, I just bought fries for me and my sibling so we could have something to snack on while we walked around.
After that, we decided to play at World of Fun because my dad really wanted to try it and experience something new. He was so happy and said he enjoyed it a lot. While my dad and my sibling played basketball and the virtual shooting game (I’m not even sure what it was called), I was just playing claw machines, though it honestly felt a bit rigged. We stayed there for around two hours, just laughing, playing, and enjoying the moment together as a family.
Lunch Time
For lunch, we ate at our favorite place, Ribshack, and I really enjoyed it a lot. I would rate their food 10/10 because it was so delicious, and their service was also 10/10 since our orders arrived in less than 5 minutes after we ordered. My whole family really loved the experience, and we were all happy and satisfied with the meal together. Plus, its also affordable.
After lunch, we decided decided to go home since we still had another 4-hour trip back to the province. We rode an air-conditioned bus so the travel wouldn’t be too hot and uncomfortable. Even though we were already tired, it was a peaceful ride as we headed home after a long and memorable day together as a family.
