MOVIE REVIEW: THE FORGE
The Forge is a powerful Christian drama which has much to teach about important lessons of faith, purpose, responsibility and spiritual growth. The film, from the Kendrick Brothers, tells the story of a young man named Isaiah Wright, who is looking for direction after graduating from high school. He doesn't take life seriously, spending the majority of his time playing video games and putting off responsibility. His mother fears for his future, and constantly tells him to make better decisions.
As the story unfolds, Isaiah gets a chance to serve under a prosperous businessman who not only imparts to him the value of work, but also takes him on a spiritual journey. Isaiah's life journey begins in a process of transformation through mentorship, prayer and biblical teaching. He discovers that great success is not limited to monetary gains or accomplishments; great success is being involved in a relationship with God, living His purpose.
I really like the mentorship message in The Forge. Many of today's young people have problems because they are without positive guidance. The film is an excellent illustration of the impact that one righteous teacher can have on a life. It brings to mind the words of Proverbs 27:17: "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. The bond between Isaiah and his mentor is the crux of the film and offers plenty of moments of inspiration.
The acting in the film is excellent and believable. Character are believable and their problems are understood. It's inspirational to watch Isaiah grow from a young man to become a responsible and faith-filled adult. Besides, his mother should be commended, for she is a good example of a parent who can still pray and trust in their children despite their apparent hopelessness. The faith, patience and determination she displays are some of the best aspects of the movie.
The emotional depth is another area in which The Forge is strong. There's no action or special effects in the movie. Instead, it is concerned with real-life issues of life purpose, discipline, relationships, forgiveness, and spiritual growth. A number of scenes prompt viewers to think about their own lives and to question whether they are living God's purpose. I realized I needed to be around people who ensure that I uphold faith, integrity, and hard work.
The cinematography is simple and effective. The film is warm and inspiring in line with its message. The score is also very fitting to the story, with the exception of some scenes that seem a bit too over the top melodramatic. The music is also very appropriate to the story and does not become distracting, with the exception of some over-the-top melodramatic moments. Each component of the film contributes to the message of hope and transformation.
The greatest message in The Forge is that no one is too bad to be changed. Isaiah begins as a lost and unmotivated individual, but with the help of those around him who are faithful and through God's guidance, he finds a new path. This is a good message, because many feel that they are stuck in life and have no idea that they can improve. The movie definitely exemplifies that transformation can be achieved through faith, discipline and proper guidance.
Some viewers might find some of the scenes predictable, but the message has stuck and is very meaningful. The film is not making any bold statements with the rapid unfolding of plot turns. Rather, it aims at communicating Biblical truths in a practical and relatable manner. If you enjoy faith-based movies, then this is one of the best Christian movies that have been released recently.
Overall, The Forge is an inspiring and uplifting film that can help to foster spiritual growth, responsibility, and perseverance. It paints a picture of what God can do in anyone who will trust Him. This film is so highly recommended that families, young adults, church groups, and anyone looking for encouragement in their faith journey should see it.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (9/10)
Combining faith, mentorship and personal transformation, The Forge is a heartfelt and motivating film that successfully weaves it together into a story that resonates. This is a film that entertains, but also inspires the audience to be better.
