Ingredients

๐Ÿž 2 large slices sourdough bread
๐Ÿฅ„ 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

๐Ÿง€ 4 slices mozzarella cheese
๐Ÿง€ 4 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

1- Preheat Skillet:

  • Start by preheating your skillet (preferably cast-iron) over low heat. This ensures a crisp, golden crust without burning.

2- Prep the Tomatoes:

  • Thinly slice the tomato and place the slices on a paper towel to absorb excess moisture. This step keeps your sandwich from becoming soggy.

3- Prepare the Bread:

  • Lay out the sourdough slices on your work surface. Evenly spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of each slice.
  • Sprinkle some garlic powder over the mayonnaise.
  • Flip the slices over; the mayonnaise side will serve as the crust for the sandwich.

4- Assemble the Sandwich:

  • On the non-mayonnaise side of one bread slice, layer 2 slices of mozzarella cheese, followed by 2 slices of provolone cheese.
  • Arrange the tomato slices over the cheese, and season them with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Add the fresh basil leaves and top with the remaining mozzarella and provolone slices.

5- Close the Sandwich:

  • Place the second slice of bread on top, mayonnaise side facing outward.
