Once you step
off that chair
music begins
the soundtrack
of your life

No going back
to where the
goodness was
stroking your hair
in the sunlight

Muffled sounds
of laughter through
a wall or crack
in the window
left open
as partial hope

Grasping
at straws
forever picking the
shortest one

Sometimes the
risk factors
greatly
outweigh
choice

The music can wait
the sun will shine again
the laughter will be yours
once you step
off the chair
