Just a Name

JUST A NAME

Are we just a name
starting
on our birth certificate
and
ending on our tombstone

Have I not loved
kissed the rain
danced with joy
smelled a scent that
could not be bottled

To call me by name
and think that is it?

How foolish
is everything
anyway

Sometimes
we know our truth
and just need to let others
discover their own
on their own time

Time is the key
if we only knew
how much we had
we'd live so differently
we'd make different choices
and live different lives

What I do not know
scares me
