This style is elegant and flattering, featuring a fitted upper bodice, an in-built neckline collar, gathered skirt, and stylish tulip sleeves. Follow these steps carefully for a neat finish.
Preparation & Measurements
Use the provided measurements:
Shoulder: 14
Bust: 32
Waist: 26
Waist half length: 14
Full length: 56
Round sleeve: 10
Sleeve length: 6
Fold your fabric into two (for front and back) and ensure it is well aligned.
** Step 2 :Cutting the Bodice (Upper Part)**
Mark the shoulder line (7 inches) on fold.
From shoulder, mark the waist half length (14 inches).
I Mark bust line around 8inches down from shoulder.
Divide bust (32 ÷ 4 = 8 inches) + 2 inches allowance.
Divide waist (26 ÷ 4 = 6.5 inches) + 2 inches allowance.
Shape the armhole and connect bust to waist with a slight curve for fitting.
** Step 3 : In-built Neckline Collar**
Decide neckline (3” width, 5” depth for front).
Extend neckline outward by 2–3 inches to form the collar.
Redraw a smooth curve to blend neckline and collar together.
Cut carefully—this creates a built-in collar effect without attaching separately.
After cutting out from the main fabric I repeat the same process to the lining as well
** Step 4 : Bodice Length Extension (Upper Length Design)**
To achieve the “length on the upper part”:
Extend the bodice below the waist by 1 inches.
This creates a longer bodice before the gathered skirt begins.
** Step 5 : Cutting the Skirt (Gathered Part)**
Skirt length = Full length (56) – bodice length (about 15) = ~42 inches + 1 inches for hem the down part.
Cut a wide rectangle (3 times your waist measurement) for fullness.
Example: 26 × 3 = 78 inches width minimum.
This allows for rich gathers.
** Step 6: Cutting the Tulip Sleeve**
Draw a sleeve with length 6 inches.
Divide round sleeve (10 ÷ 2 = 5 inches).
Create two overlapping curves to form the tulip shape.
Cut two mirrored pieces per sleeve.
** Step 7: Sewing Process
Bodice:**
Join shoulder seams.
Sew darts if needed for shaping.
Join side seams neatly.
Collar Finish:
Fold and neatly hem the neckline/collar edges or use facing.
Sleeves:
Join tulip sleeve overlaps slightly.
Attach sleeves to armhole.
Skirt:
Run two gathering stitches at the top.
Pull threads to match bodice waist.
Attach skirt to bodice evenly then Steve net under before coveringll up with lining.
Step 8: Finishing
Sew zipper at the back.
Hem the gown to full length (56 inches).
Press neatly for a professional look.
Back, front and side view
Thanks for stopping by do you have a glorious day
