From Sketch to Life: Drawing a Courier / De línea a vida: Dibujando la ocupación de mensajería.

Today I want to share the step-by-step process of this sketch I created about the delivery service.
Anywhere in the world, there is someone behind every package we receive. Using pencil and paper, I wanted to pay tribute to that quiet yet vital work.

Hoy quiero compartirles el paso a paso de este boceto que hice sobre la mensajería.
En cualquier parte del mundo, hay alguien detrás de cada paquete que recibimos. Con lápiz y papel quise homenajear ese trabajo silencioso pero vital.

It all begins with simple lines, imagining a person in profile—focused, holding a package. No details, just the structure and the intent of the movement. Delivery is action.

Todo empieza con líneas simples, imaginando una persona de perfil, concentrada, con un paquete en las manos. Sin detalles, solo la estructura y la intención del movimiento. La mensajería es acción.

This is where the drawing starts to come to life. I defined the face, added the ponytail, the polka-dot blouse, and—above all—the envelope in her hands. I wanted to show that she is checking an address, sorting things out. Those small gestures are the daily reality of a courier: attention to detail.

Aquí el dibujo empieza a respirar. Definí el rostro, agregué la coleta, la blusa de lunares y sobre todo: el sobre en sus manos. Quise que se notara que está revisando una dirección, clasificando. Esos pequeños gestos son el día a día de un mensajero: atención al detalle.

In the final version, the setting tells the story. I added more packages, labels, and an address in the background—CL 60-70 Perdomo—a nod to Bogotá’s delivery routes. The shading adds volume and weight. It is no longer just a person; it represents a workday, routes, and deliveries that connect lives.

En la versión final, el entorno cuenta la historia. Agregué más paquetes, etiquetas y una dirección al fondo: CL 60-70 Perdomo, un guiño a las rutas de Bogotá. El sombreado le da volumen y peso. Ya no es solo una persona: es una jornada de trabajo, son rutas, son entregas que conectan vidas.

Reflection:
Drawing this profession reminded me that behind every "your package has been delivered" message, there are hands, time, and miles traveled. Delivery work isn't just about moving things; it’s about moving trust.
