A wish upon the moon / Un deseo a la luna | Proceso anime a bolígrafo paso a paso

Today I want to share the process behind a little drawing I made using a ballpoint pen—no eraser, just letting my hand flow.

I had in mind that feeling you get when you gaze at the moon and feel like it’s the only one that understands you. I wanted to capture that in an anime-style profile.

Materials:
• White paper • Black ballpoint pen • A strong desire to draw

Hoy les quiero compartir el proceso de un dibujito que hice a bolígrafo, sin borrador, dejando que la mano fluya.

Tenía en la cabeza esa sensación de cuando te quedas mirando la luna y sientes que es la única que te entiende. Quise capturar eso en un perfil anime.

Materiales:
• Hoja blanca • Bolígrafo negro • Muchas ganas de dibujar

Step-by-step process:

Photo 1 – The silhouette: I started with just very soft lines. Only the outline of the profile and the circle of the moon. No details—just to position everything.

Proceso paso a paso:

Foto 1 - La silueta: Empecé solo con líneas muy suaves. Solo el contorno del perfil y el círculo de la luna. Sin detalles, solo para ubicar todo.

Photo 2 – The look that changes everything: This is where I brought it to life. I drew her tousled hair with quick strokes and a highly expressive eye looking upward. I wrote "Luna" inside, as if it were her thought.

Foto 2 - La mirada que lo cambia todo: Aquí le di vida. Le dibujé el pelo despeinado con trazos rápidos y el ojo bien expresivo mirando hacia arriba. Le escribí "Luna" adentro, como si fuera su pensamiento.

Photo 3 - Volume: I added shading to the neck and the sweatshirt using cross-hatching. The moon now has its markings—craters created with scribbles.

Foto 3 - Volumen: Agregué sombras en el cuello y en la sudadera con rayitas cruzadas. La luna ya tiene sus manchas, sus cráteres hechos con garabatos.

Photo 4 – The final sky: To wrap things up, I didn't want him to be alone. I filled the background with soft diagonal lines and tiny falling shooting stars—as if the sky were moving around him.

Foto 4 - El cielo final: Para cerrar, no quería que estuviera solo. Llené el fondo con líneas diagonales suaves y estrellitas fugaces cayendo. Como si el cielo se estuviera moviendo alrededor de él.

What I love most about the pen is that there’s no turning back. If you make a mistake, you just turn it into part of the style.
