Three Rule Sets That Made This 42 Mana Battle So Challenging — Chaos Furybringer Remained My Favorite in This Battle

In some rule sets selecting your monsters becomes quite difficult because while one rule gives you a restriction another rule gives you an advantage. This is where the real confusion starts.

When you get both restrictions and benefits together you have to think about which rule set deserves more attention. That is why it is always recommended to add different types of monster cards to your deck so they can fit every kind of rule set. In such situations monster selection becomes much easier.

Today's 42 mana battle was very interesting and exciting. The best part was that there were three rule sets. All three were simple but together they created a lot of confusion when choosing monsters.

What were the three rule sets which was confusing in the selection of the monsters? Lets explore...

HIGH FIVE

The first rule set was High Five. In this rule set you can summon only five units. You are not allowed to summon more than five. Even if you still have mana left and an empty slot available you still cannot summon more than five units.

Keeping this rule set in mind your strategy should be to choose your five strongest monsters from your deck. Also make sure that your selection includes strong attacking units.

UPCLOSE AND PERSONAL

The second rule set was Up Close and Personal. In this rule set you can summon only melee attack units. This is a special restriction because all your Ranged and Magic attack monsters become unusable. Only your melee attackers can be selected.

This creates another challenge because if your deck does not have strong melee monsters then monster selection becomes difficult. You will not be able to use many of your best monsters. So in this rule set your focus should be entirely on melee attack monsters.

With this rule set in mind, your strategy should be to choose your strongest melee attackers. If you have a monster with the Reach ability that can attack from the second position it becomes even more valuable.

ARMORED UP

The third rule set was Armed Up and this one gave us an advantage. All your units receive +2 Armor.

For this rule set your strategy should be to select monsters that already have armor because adding another +2 Armor makes them even tougher and strengthens your defensive line.

Keeping all three rule sets in mind I selected an Archon with the +1 Speed ability so that all my units would gain extra speed. Since in melee battles only the front line monster and a monster with the Reach ability can attack only two attacks can happen in one round.

That is why choosing a Speed Archon is very useful. Your two attacking monsters become faster giving them a better chance to damage the enemy before being hit.

Because of this I placed a strong tank with melee attack in the front line. In the second position I selected a monster with the Reach ability so it could continue attacking from there.

In the middle position I again selected a monster with strong armor. In the back positions I filled the team with melee attackers because I had no other option under this rule set.

The battle started very well. My monsters attacked quickly because of the Archon's Speed bonus. However the enemy selected a healing Archon so its front-line monster kept healing again and again creating a lot of problems for me.

Eventually thanks to my heavy striker I destroyed the enemy's front line.

The battle became very exciting when it turned into a 3 vs 3 fight. However since my middle and backline monsters were still strong my team gained the advantage. One by one I eliminated the enemy monsters and secured a fantastic and satisfying victory.

I believe the biggest reason for this win was my front-line tank and my Reach ability monster because both performed exceptionally well. Also choosing the +1 Speed Archon proved to be a very smart decision and worked perfectly in this battle.

What strategy would you use in this type of rule set and which monster would you give the highest priority to? Will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
