Crushing the Same Opponent Twice in Modern Ranked! | Earth and Water Teams Dominate
Hello fellow Splinterlands warriors! It's @zoe01 here, I'm here with another episode of splinterlands. As you guys already know that I have been heavily grinding in Modern ranked matches after leaving Frontier mode behind. I am still pushing hard to climb through the ranks even though the season is going to end anytime soon.
I have not played modern ranked matches before so, I just wanted to get gain more knowledge about it. Anyway, I have been continuing my grind in Modern mode. Right now, I will give you a brief breakdown of how I dismantled my opponent's teams across two different matches today. The interesting part is that in both match I had the same opponent.
Match 1: Earth Element Domination Against MALATA
Mana Cap: 43 Mana
Ruleset: Four's a crowd ( You can summon a maximum of 4 units)
Active Elements: Water, Earth
The first match, ended really quick. We had a high 43-mana cap but my favourite elements were severely restricted. So, I had the option to chose between water and earth and I wanted to try the Earth element. I have not used some monsters before as they are my new companions so I wanted to use them today to experiment. Another reason, I haven't played with Earth element for a long period.
My Lineup Layout:
- Summoner: Aurelia
- Position 1: Dread Tafarian (Melee Attack)
- Position 2: Stonebind Matron (Magic Attack)
- Position 3: Time Bandit (Magic attack)
- Position 4: Anchor- Hex Adept (Magic Attack)
My full team was almost magic attackers but then I saw my opponent used the summoner Zeddica (LV.3), even with their magic debuff, the raw damage output and positioning of my Earth deck completely overpowered their setup.
This match ended much faster, it just ended in 4 rounds only. My squad systematically took down their teammates. By the final round, my opponent's cards were fully eliminated but all of my monsters remained. In the end I have achieved a fantastic victory, along with a massive +40 rating boost and +53 glints!
Match 2: Water Element Strategy Against MALATA
Mana Cap: 24 Mana
Ruleset: You can summon 1 wild unit
Active Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Dragon
The second match, facing the exact same opponent, MALATA. I knew I had to change my strategy completely to keep him clueless. Anyway, a 24-mana cap which is much lower than before and I have to choose my monsters carefully. I noticed all elements were available on the battlefield making the strategy options wide open. So, I a bit chilled about it as I was thinking of a reliable strategy for this low mana match, I decided to lean into the element I should be using which is Water element.
I had carefully set my lineup to ensure I could withstand the opponent's mixed assault.
My Lineup Layout:
- Summoner: Marlai Singariel
- Position 1: Port Guardian (Melee Attack)
- Position 2: Colossus Raider (Melee Attack)
- Position 3: Oshannus Unmade (Ranged attack)
My opponent, MALATA, brought a Dolfar Darflak summoner (lv.3) and other monsters were upgraded as well I think. However, my team's synergy and the speed advantage and we kept moving efficiently.
The match was an intense tactical battle, we ended the match in just 8 rounds. One by one, my monsters held the line and wore down the opponents team. In conclusion, my squad completely wiped out their cards, we got a beautiful ending which was a victory and achieved me +20 rating points and +52 glints!
In the end, I have successfully won the match. It was truly a fun match to play. Although, my opponent used three level monsters but he couldn't win against me. Right now, I'm still figuring it out, that where should I be positioning the cards and what's their special ability. I will only know when I play with regularly.
Modern Bronze II Milestones & Daily Streaks!
back-to-back two wins paid off in a massive way, my position in the ranking stayed solid right at a 480 rating inside Modern Bronze II. The climb feels incredibly rewarding when the strategies work out perfectly.
Beyond the ranked matches, my daily grinds gave m some awesome bonuses through Lux's Favor wheel spins. Keeping up with my daily streak brought in some great drops today:
- +1 Free Spin!
- +500 Sparks
- +300 Sparks
Getting these extra Sparks is amazing because I can save them up to obtain special items in the Spark Shop. I'm planning to make 30k sparks and buy a powerful monster card with it, from the shop.
We have no time left in the current season and it's going to end anytime soon. I hope in next season I can do better but for now I need to be satisfied with what I have now.
What are your favorite card choices when you are restricted to just the Water or Earth elements in mid-to-high mana rulesets?
Have you played splinterlands before? If not make sure to play it now. Here's the link
