Testing Level 2 Lenore Nevermore in Modern Ranked — What a Debut in Splinterlands
Hello fellow Splinterlands warriors! It's @zoe01 here with another update on my ranked journey. If you had seen my last post, you know I have been grinding hard in Silver II in frontier mode. However, today I decided to switch things up completely. Instead of playing Frontier ranked match, I jumped straight into Modern Ranked match to test out some fresh strategies and unleash my latest deck addition!
As I had mentioned previously that I have got a new card now which is a Level 2 Lenore Nevermore. I have been itching to see what she could do on the battlefield and today was finally the day. My favorite element is Death so being able to combine my go-to summoner Thalgrimore with this new addition made for the perfect entry into Modern mode.
let's begin the match, as I started the match I have the chance to play high-mana battle that marked my entry into the format!
Stepping Into Modern Against _SLBB_REARBLUE
- Mana Cap: 41 Mana
- Ruleset: Standard
- Active Elements: Fire, water, dragon, death, life, earth
As you can see the massive 41 mana cap and all elements are available, so the strategic options were endless. I knew this was the perfect moment to rely on my favorite Death element. I went up against _SLBB_REARBLUE, I didn't know what kind up lineup he was going bring out, I was confident because of the new card and I was sure that my new card will be beneficial for me.
My Lineup Layout:
- Summoner: Thalgrimore
- Position 1: Nim Guard Captain (Melee tanking upfront)
- Position 2: Spellmonger (No attack, utility placement)
- Position 3: Sorrow Harvester (Magic attack)
- Position 4: Vengeful Monk (Melee attack)
- Position 5: Lenore Nevermore (Ranged Attack)
- Position 6: Grand Consul Minion (Ranged Attack)
Interestingly, my opponent opted for a highly diverse Life lineup, utilizing heavy hitters like a massive frontline it was a mix of magic and secondary melee attackers. Because Thalgrimore immediately lowered the maximum health pool of the entire enemy team, my damage outputs felt significantly more impactful from the opening bell. Lenore Nevermore performed beautifully in her debut, bypassing the opponents armor buffs with smooth magic damage. My Grand Consul Minion got eliminated earlier but rest of the cards remained.
The battle turned into a relentless assault and my squad systematically dismantled their defenses. By the end of the round, the cards of my opponent entirely got cleared, I secured a dominant victory with the rest 5 cards of mine.
In the end, I have successfully achieved a stellar +40 rating points and a sweet haul of +81 SPS tokens. It was truly an incredible match. I think, I am liking it more in Modern ranked match than frontier ranked match.
Modern Bronze III Unlocked & Loot Drops
Just because I just started out fresh in Modern mode, this massive victory immediately pushed my rating up to 80, allowing me to officially claw my way out of the Wood League and Unlock Modern Bronze III!
Advancing means earning far more Glint and unlocking better tier treasures in the Reward Shop, so I was incredibly excited to open my Bronze III loot chests right away. I had 3 reward chests waiting for me! and the drops did not disappoint:
135 Merits (Excellent for building up those guild brawls!)
Oshannus Unmade (A fantastic legendary addition to add utility to the collection!)
Stonebind Matron (An excellent Earth unit to bolster my secondary element options!)
Daily Streak & Spark Shop Progress
I'm so happy that I have got lucky again, my daily streak wheel spin on Lux's Favor hit perfectly. The wheel rewarded me with a massive +1,000 Sparks along with a +150 Bonus Sparks multiplier.
This boost brings my total balance up to 15,769 Sparks, which I am saving up to cash in for some awesome high-tier utility resources in the Spark Shop very soon.
I choose Modern mode today and it seems like I made a good decision. Unleashing Lenore Nevermore under Thalgrimore's guidance worked like a charm and pulling a legendary card right out of my Bronze III rank rewards makes the competitive grind entirely worth it. I am excited to upgrade to the next tier which is bronze II. Hopefully, I can rank up faster than before because now I have a bit of experience.
What are your favorite combinations to pair with Lenore Nevermore when running a high-mana Death team? Do you prefer stacking magic damage or backing her up with heavy sneak attackers? Let me know your best strategies in the comments below, and good luck out there on the ranked ladder!
