Singkil
This is an aerial view of the regency seat of Aceh Singkil Regency. I want to share aerial photos of an abandoned CPO (Crude Palm Oil) port in a lagoon, and all my shots were taken from this area.
My knowledge of this location's landscape is limited, as my sole purpose here was to conduct a preliminary survey for historical research.
According to local residents, the 2005 Nias-Simeulue earthquake caused land subsidence in this area. Nearly all buildings along the lagoon experienced subsidence, with about a third of the building's construction having gone underground. The CPO tank facility within the lagoon was also affected.
The Singkil coastal area, located on the Indian Ocean, is predominantly characterized by swamps, known as the Singkil Swamp Wildlife Reserve, home to Sumatran Orangutans.
This small city, holding the status of a regency seat in the province of Aceh, is the quietest regency seat in the province.
