Getting Aggressive in Fortnite Can Pay Off with Rivalries
This round I decided to play a little more aggressively, focusing on the new Rivalry play mechanic as much as I could. Also, I finally found a scoped weapon I can use, but don’t get a chance to use it, a sniper rifle. I was excited and also deflated just as quickly as the round was over before I could even scope someone, let alone get a shot off on them.
Rivalries Mark You on the Map
The one thing that I like about the rivalry system is the fact it shows you where your opponent is. The rivalry system acts a lot like the beast/boss aspect from previous seasons. Each participant in the rivalry gets a general point on the map showing where their opponent is. This marker gets smaller as the timer counts down, focusing more on the exact location of the opponent.
I like it. It gives you purpose to rotate and move around the map. Or, if you prefer, reason to just park it somewhere and camp, forcing your opponents to come to you.
I am not big on camping; I prefer to push. Most players, especially Sweats, are not used to being pushed. Most sweats are chasers, picking off your health as they get a shot here and there in. Eventually they get the elimination, and you have not really put up any decent offense.
Sweats love that.
I hate Sweats.
I Was Not Paying Attention
I honestly did not know the last elimination was upon me when it occurred. I was just enjoying the action. Something I have not done much of in Chapter 7 so far. There is just so much waiting, running around, empty land to get through looking for opponents.
This is almost as bad as the Power Rangers season. That season at least had plenty of cars and other mobility available so you could get around quickly. Season 2 of Chapter 7 is not like that; movement is severely limited. Cars are harder to come by, and the zip line is EASILY defeated if you can aim well.
Still, this last match was interesting and I actually enjoyed it.
I randomly stream on YouTube if you want to catch these matches live. I also play with friends as often as I can, stream or not so add me, triverse1976.
