DAILY LIFE STORY: Disposal of Expired and Damaged Items
Working in the wholesale and retail industry means dealing with the disposal of expired and damaged items. It is part of the company's policy when it comes to inventory control. And recently, we needed to dispose of the items that needed to be cleared out from the warehouse. Some of them are expired, while the others have damage.
First, we disposed of the drinks. There are Corona beers and a box of ice creams. We had to dispose of them first since they are easier to dispose of.
The next thing we prepared is the box of oil packed in a plastic bag. There are a lot of them, and the reason for disposal is that they have already expired. We checked the barcode and the total quantity since they need to be zeroed out in the system after disposal.
It was really disappointing to see such products go to waste just because they are not monitored well in the warehouse. They have been stuck inside the cages until they expired, which could have been avoided if the personnel assigned to check this item had proper monitoring and checking.
Lastly, we needed to dispose of a lot of Coca-Cola, the ones in plastic bottles. You can see them piled up in the receiving area, and we need to dispose of them since they have already expired. The supplier failed to pick them up; we will conduct the disposal.
In this case, the suppliers delivered these items on their near-expiry stage, so it resulted in this. We need to get them out of the warehouse and report for their disposal right away.
The task was really tiring, but it was part of our monthly clearing and disposal activities.
So, that's it for today. Thank you so much for reading. See you on our next blog. Sending good vibes to everyone!
