Day 29:) PoW
What is PoW? Its an acronym for Power of Words. Do vocables really have power? How do you feel when someone appreciates you? Doesn’t the appreciative behavior bring a grin? On the other hand, don’t you feel dejected when anyone behaves angrily with you? The above questions ascertain that words do have power.
“Stick and stones may break your bones, but words can change your brain.”
Expressions affect our mind and generate some sensations and we act accordingly. Generally, we say, “We will be late, if you don’t get ready quickly”. We are already training our brain to be late, if the other person doesn’t get ready swiftly. We can rephrase the statement as, “We can be on time, if you get ready quickly” or may be even better.
Mostly, we respond for activities we don’t want to as “I don’t have time now”. The reality is we always have the time. The more appropriate word for the context is priority. Try saying, my health is not my priority instead of voicing I don’t have time for yoga or exercise.
What happens when we use the above statement?
Through our actions we are training(change) our brain every moment. With time, our body adapts to auto pilot mode like we can breathe with less or no attention. Similarly, our brain adapts to responding I don’t have time and we act likewise. Remain occupied in useless work instead of productive and the priority ones.
You might have heard or read about affirmations. When we repeat those powerful assertions, we are being more focused on our goals. It guides us to do the hard work. According to researchers, spending just a few minutes using self-affirmations or thinking one’s best qualities before a high-pressure meeting – a performance review, can calm your nerves and boost confidence too.
We express our thoughts through language. It makes us realize what’s going through our mind.
Choose the locution wisely as you are speaking your future ;)
